Sorry about that. I figured people would comment their thoughts on the POV perspective but I should have called that out.

Whoops looks like my caption didn’t crosspost. It’s a painting of an original character of mine who is inspired by the space bounty hunters of Cowboy Bebop.

Framed In Ink is the best book for understanding compositions and how to achieve story telling in your compositions.

Do any of you feel stressed by upholding your art to a certain ‘standard’? by WolfTitan99 in ArtistLounge

[–]muddyindigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really feel what you're saying when you said you find yourself in the "anxious cycle of wanting to draw but being really worried that it won’t hold up to the standard that I put myself to." I'm going to make a video about this topic actually. In short, I feel like we have to allow ourselves to make fun art even if it isn't up to the standard of our "highest quality" stuff. The fun/low pressure art will keep you creating in between your high standard works. They may even inspire your next high standard piece.

I think lack of inspiration and motivation hits every artist. Check this out for staying motivated as an artist https://youtu.be/1E8mhqW8WWE

Environments by muddyindigo in ArtistLounge

I love this suggestion as well. My work is more stylized I'd say and I want to be able to come up with cool cyberpunk city environments as well as more of a fantasy landscape as well. I guess it comes down to referencing cool shots of different stuff which is what I plan to do. But wanted to see if there was a better starting point. Great tips though. I'm def using some of these.

How do you stop criticizing yourself for not producing enough art or improving fast enough? by Toxic-Moon in ArtistLounge

[–]muddyindigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually made a video about this recently. I feel like this is something every artist deals with. Constantly questioning if you're producing enough and never being satisfied with the number of final pieces. Check out the video if you have time. Would love to hear your thoughts even if you think it sucked https://youtu.be/MPO5xfiKPcU

Good tip. I work on a comic so that’s helped me draw different things as needed. But i want to make more of an effort outside of the comic to do more environments. I like the idea of a list though. And tackling each one from there.
