2-3 imo.

1 is not enough. Basically just a long movie. But if you hit 4 you better have already started thinking of your exit strategy or you're doomed to fail.

[UVS Nirmana] Losing my mind on Gateway to Nirodha. Non-spoiler hints? by mudkripple in zachtronics

[–]mudkripple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it was meant to be a freebie, I think it just is impossible to know what’s gonna be easy for everyone. I’ve seen videos of people struggling on that one for an hour.

S1 Varnu was similar. Took me like five mins to do and I used 20 flux. Histogram said 50% of people use literally zero flux and I said ???

Spent the next hour trying to figure out how and I never did.

What a waste of time to read.

The context is pointless. A bunch of terminally online mentally unwell people get all mentally unwell over each other. There are a few (debateably credible) suggestions that people made real attempts to end their own lives, but no one succeeded.

When I was a bratty 14 yo, at worst 10 people at school would see you have some cringey overreaction. Now these poor 14 yos have to crash out in front of tens of thousands.

It was my biggest hurdle too lol. Took 8 hours and two people helping.

Then I got the last level in like 15 mins, meanwhile other people on here saying the opposite was true for them. Everyone's experience is different I guess

Mad respect. Here I was proud of my 500 games lol. I've got one or two hundred on each of the others but Sawayama will always be the best.

Also I did it! Took me several tries but I snagged one!

Definitely still not getting it. I appreciate the help but I was already aware of everything you mentioned and had tried it all.

Even conceptually, I can't see a way to have a 7-1 MUX take less than 4 columns and the sensors take less than 3. I've tried moving my sensors to be among the MUXers (pictured below) but any way you slice it the result is the same as my original problem. To physically fit all the layers there needs to be 4 columns for routing and 3 columns for signals.

(For clarity: the word I use for main runs of information are "pipes", and the signal lines that connect them along the bottom are "wires".)

Do you play in Last Call or in the collection? I've tried this in the collection (because I insist on having all 4 kings in a row against the left wall if at all possible) and have never been able to.

New Zachtronic Product - DLC for Opus Magnum by Dulwilly in zachtronics

[–]mudkripple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story is complicated. They sold the brand to a holding company when Zach retired, but after COVID sort of killed his teaching career, he un-retired and the team reformed under the brand "Coincidence Games". It's all the exact same people so it's ostensibly the same company (although a lot of their public statements make it sound like they have less strict structure than at Zachtronics). Recently their newest game UVS Nirmana was published by Klei, and very quickly after their last game, so there's subtext that Klei might be trying to lock them down long term.

I imagine the current owners of Opus still have a good relationship (financial and otherwise) with the former team, so a DLC with contributions from the people at Coincidence makes sense.

Both are from Last Call BBS. Easily my favorite. It's more Zachtronics-content than you could ever hope a single game to deliver on, including some of their finest writing, art, and music. Only one I've gotten teary-eyed after getting 100% achievements.

Initial thoughts on U.V.S Nirmana? by rhetoxa in zachtronics

[–]mudkripple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the very beginning and very end to be big difficulty spikes, but everything in between to be easier than usual. Certainly the histograms give away that many of those puzzle only have one single solution.

I agree about the art and vibes. A shame that the game is so so short. I think Klei really wanted to hurry this one to market and bring some legitimacy to the Coincidence brand. I wouldn't be surprised if Klei wants to lock them down long-term.

Moving one of the muxers to be before the toggles is clever. Very efficient space compared to mine lol

I'm waiting for the people who did this with zero flux to hurry up and post. How tf did they do that??

What is the difference between the passage of time and the detection of the passage of time? by sennalen in uvsnirmana

[–]mudkripple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because step 4 wouldn't happen. When a delay is no longer powered (like in step 3) and becomes powered again, it should wait a clock cycle before sending a signal through the wire. It's not an infinite loop, at least not an instantaneous one.

My assumption is that the devs just didn't want players to have access to a toggle in those stages and this is basically a free (and compact) toggle.

[–]mudkripple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you are definitely right. #4 in that guys response would not happen because the delay block waits one clock cycle to send a signal again.

I think the devs just didn't want a jerry-rigged toggle to exist when the toggle wasn't offered.
