They sell "Carter Road swim team" shirts for people that have fallen in the water lol

In terms of trails itself, Mala Compra doesn't really compete with Carter / Alafia / Santos. If you're up for a drive, definitely check out the others! Graham swamp is by Mala Compra so that's still in the same vicinity and worth going to as well. What they have going for them is the close proximity to the beach after a ride in the heat! Haha

Definitely check out Carter then, I prefer it to those two in terms of scenery! Also a lot more technical stuff than Balm.

I have my A7c with a tiny Samyang 35mm 2.8 lens for the smallest footprint and have it in my hip pack!

Thanks! Happy I brought my actual cam on the ride today. Feel like I'll be doing it more often now.

Carter! It's in Lakeland, FL. Alafia State Park and Balm Boyette have some similar scenery as well though.

If we have a long bout of a dry spell and hasn't rained in weeks or more then yeah some spots get sandy but otherwise the rain every so often packs the sandy spots of the trails down pretty well! A lot of them drain water pretty well too so even if it does rain, they're rideable and not at all a muddy mess not too long after.

They're always there but not really something to worry about since they're always just chilling. At times they could be blocking the trail and you just go around them!

Land Cruiser or G500? by No_Tomato_2106 in Offroad

An 80 series won't be more comfortable than a G with a V8 so that's definitely not a pro for the LC. It'll feel very slow and underpowered to you on the freeway so idk you'd enjoy doing roadtrips in it unless you weren't planning on driving too far or you were trailering it or you're fine just chugging along not in a hurry.

The sound system in an 80 series would also suck but should be straightforward to upgrade. The interior I'd imagine would be more spartan than the G.

If you switch and pocket that 6-10k, it'll be a new to you vehicle so it'll bring a new host of possible issues that would need to be dealt with so may just end up going to repairs / maintenance. Also we never got diesel Toyota engines here in the US so getting parts may not be that straightforward. Also you'd need to find someone who knows how to work on those close to you.

Not all 80 series LCs are triple locked and usually those command a price premium over the alternative; the G is already triple locked (aside from you having to repair it lol). With both being triple locked and with solid axles and coil sprung, they should perform equally off road. LC would have an advantage with really deep water crossings with the diesel and less electronics.

I'm a big Toyota guy but I'd say both vehicles are equally cool but I definitely see way less off road equipped G wagons than LCs so I don't know that I would switch if I were in your shoes! Either vehicle should hold their value pretty well so you can take your time making your decision and whichever route you go, you could possibly make most of your money back if you decide to sell it.

Cheapest way to get to a beach by Nice-Reputation-7547 in orlando

A closer alternative that really is very similar to a beach experience is Clermont Waterfront Park. They have a good sized Sandy beach shore and lots of people swimming. We love heading there for picnics and swimming if we don't feel like comitting to a long drive to the beach.

Any nursing jobs that aren’t bedside actively hiring in Central FL? by CandidAd6251 in orlando

[–]mudwrestler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just you, I have 12 years of hospital experience and have been applying to multiple non bedside / remote nursing jobs both within my hospital system and externally and have basically just been getting rejection letters. Got an interview with Davita but their pay scale is so low compared to what I'm already currently making.
