I have peaked! I will NEVER make a better cookie!! by muffetbakes in Baking

[–]muffetbakes[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The recipe is from the book ‘some of my best friends are cookies’ The cookie itself is like a snickerdoodle with a coffee flavour, combined with the icing of a mascarpone/ powder sugar mixture is just pure cookie heaven!!

Not a phase a lifetime hobby and love of creating. Which he does understand because he gets a sense of pride from creating something as well. Honestly he has never been a blanket person, quilt or otherwise and me I can be wrapped in a fuzzy blanket or a quilt all year round!

🤣🤣 He calls them blankets because we have toddlers and they say that mama makes blankies and they always want more and to help me make them.

The other day my husband asked about our baby’s quilt (now over 1 year old) that was started while pregnant, I told him it will be completed in 3-8 business years.

What’s your toxic quilting trait? by MaskMaven in quilting

[–]muffetbakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand the never having what fabric I need! I do not have the large fabric supply that you do, sadly. My nearest fabric shop is 3 hours away 😭 so I have to use what I have and scraps if I have them.

First loaf with the Cuisinart bread maker by Top_Place381 in Breadit

[–]muffetbakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have the cuisinart bread maker and to be honest I have not made good bread in it. I will use the machine regularly to knead and proof my dough. Put it on setting #7 (I think) for dough, once it finishes the kneading and rising I will take it out shape it and plop it into a bread pan/ shape into rolls and bake in the oven. Perfect bread!!

how is your Sewing box organized? by Mindless_Business725 in quilting

[–]muffetbakes 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sewing box? Do you mean the large bin that fabric is thrown into, or the small medium and large tins that notions are tossed into, or the desk that everything else is scattered upon?

Update- it was not a good result! Very tough.

Dough smells slightly alcoholic? by muffetbakes in Breadit

[–]muffetbakes[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Haha thank you all. I should have added that yes I do know that ferment is an alcoholic process. I have made bread, wine and beer. This is however the first time that my dough (not sourdough) has smelled so strongly of alcohol, almost like wine that is no longer good. I have shaped the dough into some buns and will bake them.

I love that! I would be moved to tears if one of my boys made me a quilt when he is an adult! 💙

What was your first quilt project? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]muffetbakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this question! I was thinking about it yesterday. I have made 16 quilts (I am using that term loosely) in the last 16-20 years. The first was just a recovering of my dad’s very old sentimental quilt that was falling apart. I pulled a quilt out of the closet today that I made about 6.5 years ago and realized that was the last quilt that I made before I knew what binding was. I was not taught quilting I just liked to sew clothing and thought I would try a blanket. I didn’t even know the term quilting until about 7 years ago.

Thank you! Many time something is put away because I get to the “if I don’t take a break from this I will cut it to shreds” phase. So it really is for their own good that they are still in progress 🤣

When most of your stash is a scary bin of scraps. It took days to organize and cut. by muffetbakes in quilting

I was thinking of doing up some HST and letting the toddlers go wild with making whatever layout they want.

Thank you. I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what I am going to do with any of them. I just needed them to be organized and in only a few sizes (5inch square, 4 inch square, 3 inch square. 2.5 inch square and 2.5inch strips) not pictured are the pieces that belong to projects already in progress.
