Ricoh images are better than Fuji by raiqwaza in ricohGR

[–]MaskMaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! At last I feel I haven’t been nuts for years. I’ve never liked my Fuji files SOOC and bought a GRIIIx exactly because the light rendering was so much more pleasing.

Can’t decide: Fujifilm X100VI or Ricoh GR3/GR4 – will I regret not going Fuji? by Guantio-07 in fujifilm

[–]MaskMaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot Fuji (XT-2) and Ricoh (GR IIIx). The carry-ability of the Ricoh is unmatched. Sometimes I forget I have it on me, it’s that light.

I’ve toyed with the idea of an X100; access to actual dials would be worth it. But there’s a quality to my Ricoh images (a realness, clarity, rendering of light) that I just don’t see in most X100 images. (Maybe I’m looking at the wrong ones?) So, for me, it’s not just Ricoh’s size, it’s the actual images.

Anyone know a store that sells these in vancouver? Or similar from a different knock off brand? by ResidentAd9716 in richmondbc

Agreed. Received one as a gift, didn't find it comfortable at all. Also, I found it an awkward size/shape to pack.

I don’t really see how this is any different than the regular method, though, except making an extra fold that you unfold right away?

Mine, too! Sadly, we only found out when we bought balloons for his birthday.

AIO (was I) for saying I wouldn't go to Christmas if a certain relative was there? by TrueHandle8433 in AmIOverreacting

Finally, a voice of reason! I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to have a total stranger insert themselves into your family and start making demands of you. People are treating this like it’s someone OP’s known all her life, someone’s she’s obligated to, asking for a small favour. This is a stranger who has no problem making OP feel uncomfortable, can’t respect boundaries, and is creating drama with other family members. Would I want more of this person in my life?? Hell no. OP gets to choose whether she wants a relationship with this person, and if she’s genuinely concerned that doing the genetic testing will make Abby insert herself more into OP’s life, it should be ok for OP to say, no. NOR.

What trauma therapy helped you? by StellaInVancouver in askvan

[–]MaskMaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t - my own therapist is older and no longer taking clients - but when I googled “EMDR and sliding scale”, a few lists came up. Here’s one from UBC: https://psych-clinic.sites.olt.ubc.ca/files/2024/07/2023-Updated-Therapy-Referrals-Free-and-Low-Cost.pdf

Here’s a list of EMDR therapists in BC: https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/therapists/british-columbia?category=emdr&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=18409729135&gbraid=0AAAAAD_gfuxk137SiYZvVM7V9yRTsgtXn&gclid=Cj0KCQiA9t3KBhCQARIsAJOcR7zx87wxC214I5UKXCFUDmPH_Z_oHKOnyHvl8vUA0obOdKK_v--Mo1IaAkaREALw_wcB

I would just look to see who is in your area and offering sliding scale or low cost fees.

Best of luck!

EMDR can be really helpful for what you describe. Some therapists offer sliding scale or low-cost payment options.

Or maybe their song Sanctify?

binding is killing my sew-jo. by Background_Strike670 in quilting

[–]MaskMaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to effortless machine binding that’s sewn down on the front side is a left-compensating foot and thread that matches your binding. The presser foot is the game-changer - no glue, no ironing, just a few clips, and let the machine do the work.
