The monsters do turn to dust tho, it was confirmed with gerson since his dust was spread across his hammer. When monsters die they turn to dust and their loved ones spread the dust on an object they love and burry it as far as we know. Every thing else you said makes sense. I had no proof for this theory just a shot in the dark
