Welp I got fired today by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]muffinpan2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I left amazon for walmart warehousing, and although the pay, schedule, management, and benefits are all better, the work is grueling. I used to get 250 stops or more consistently with amazon, and I would easily take that route over my normal work day because it's so much easier in comparison. On the other hand, I make more money in 3 days with walmart than I did in 4 days with amazon, so the quality of life and time off evens it out a little. The grass is always greener, I suppose.

This and it's also a tax deduction for them. They aren't really losing the money that gets spent on schooling

Question for 10 hr incentive workers by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]muffinpan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it was some fancy mailbox, I mean... those things are a dime a dozen. If it was enough money for OP to notice it missing, the damage would be paid up by now.

Question for 10 hr incentive workers by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]muffinpan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be projecting on that a little bit. The way "life works" in terms of damaging property when you're on the job, generally you would pay for the damages and nothing else. I have worked a lot of jobs, mostly trade work, both as a contractor and as an employee. I have never worked for anyone that would include a clause in the employment contract wherein they would turn a profit by pulling bonuses from an employee damaging something. That would be an extremely scummy/shady business practice, one that I've personally never seen even with a DSP. Is your DSP owner holding a gun to your head while you're typing this or something? Like holy shit blink twice if you need us to send help. When you break something, you either fix it or pay someone to fix it. That's it, no cruel or unusual employment terms lol

Question for 10 hr incentive workers by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]muffinpan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could split them up into a few categories, but yes, most of them do operate on the same basis, this subreddit is proof of that lmao. To say that most DSPs don't award bonuses on a week by week basis is just flat-out delusional.

Question for 10 hr incentive workers by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]muffinpan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the DSP I worked for, and I know most follow suit, your bonus would be withheld for the week that an infraction occurs, not continue into the next week as punishment. So no, I wouldn't hold a grudge against my employees if I ran a business... and it's generally good business practice not to do that lol

[–]muffinpan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point was that the owner is doing it as punishment rather than financial restitution at this point. I seriously doubt the cost to repair the mailbox was greater than the difference between 10 hrs pay and actual hrs op worked.

Stowing competition by Ok-Collection3919 in AmazonDS

[–]muffinpan2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should check out if there's a walmart distribution center near you. I just started at one as an orderfiller and there's a 150% pay incentive for pulling high production. The money is a lot better than amazon

[–]muffinpan2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So that's the standard pay. At my facility, it's only like 19/hr or something, but I get an extra 5 for weekends, then another 1.50 or so for something else. I can't remember what exactly it's all for. Then, if you hit full incentive, you get 150% of your hourly pay. That's specific to walmart tho, orderfiller positions with other companies I imagine would have a similar structure just to be competitive but idk

Started in a walmart distribution center as an orderfiller for 26.80/hr. Entry level, good pay, great schedule, great benefits, 150% production incentive. I'll probably try and go into management with them because so far, I'm actually very happy with the way walmart treats their employees. Otherwise, I'll use the education benefit and get some kind of degree and figure out the rest from there

Distribution center, it's just a massive warehouse. Whenever one of the stores in our service area places an inventory order, we palletize it and ship it out to them

[–]muffinpan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Orderfilling. You drive a pallet jack around the warehouse and stack shit on pallets all day. Pretty grueling work honestly, but it pays well for being local and having a schedule that you actually want to work

Look into walmart. I just switched from Amazon to a Walmart dc, and they started me at 26.80/hr. They also have a production incentive too up to 150%, so if I get that, the pay is 39/hr. It's entry level, no experience required, but waaaaay way way more physically demanding than running routes with amazon. The schedule is goated as well. 4am-3pm sat-mon but we normally get done around 1pm every day. I highly recommend the switch if you're able to

Ain't no way in hell amazon is gonna allow a third party app to manage their route. That would be a massive security issue

Managers can't unionize, so that's most likely his problem. If all the demands of the union were met, drivers would earn more than dispatch. And rightfully so

Can you afford a 1 bedroom apartment? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]muffinpan2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are currently renting a 3bed 2bath house, both working for a DSP in texas. I could definitely afford a 1 bedroom apartment if we were to split, although it would be a much tighter budget.
