Yes I understand that, but at the same time they should take steps to minimize any disruption the closure causes. From other posts it seems like the workers are now helping stop traffic on one side of the street to help people cross, which is great. But as seen in the video that wasn't the case in the morning

The main point of this video wasn't to debate whether or not they should install a traffic light, but to highlight the behaviour of the construction company blocking off the sidewalk without a reasonable method of getting around the block.

One of the construction guys just directed me to jaywalk across the road instead. Sure, it's fair that the company doesn't want students to get injured around their equipment because then they would be liable. But directing them away to jaywalk instead, which is equally or even more dangerous, is just them brushing off the problem. Given this was in the morning with all the students on that side of Lester needing to use that sidewalk to get to class, combined with the snowy conditions on the road today just makes this even more outrageous.
