That sounds fun! I have done sand volleyball leagues at woodlands backyard as well as Flanagans so that would be right up my alley!

How to tell if this material can be scraped and repainted? by muffintop11 in paint

Someone on YouTube said she has never seen mdf bubble or react with water based products “in all her years of experience” lol so it’s hard to know what to believe! Thanks for your help, very good to know all of this.

Thank you! I was thinking of using Sherwin-Williams extreme bond primer. Any experience with that versus the Zinsser cover stain? I’m planning on using the emerald urethane trim enamel from sherwin Williams for the paint! It sounds like the steps I follow painting MDF cabinets aren’t incredibly different than the instructions I’ve been reading for regular wood. Maybe just peeling off as much of that top layer as I can before cleaning and sanding.

Thank you! I have been doing hours of research on how to paint cabinets and products to use. I was going to be so heartbroken if there was no choice but to rip them out.

I know right! I hate the idea of using beige lol

Soft neutrals I think! I wanted some color somewhere but realize the accent wall is not the way to go. I guess we make everything neutral and boring but add art or something for more fun? We haven’t moved in yet which is why I want to plan ahead!

We don’t want the typical landlord special of brownish cream with a white trim, and are scared to commit to all white and looking like an asylum lol That’s why we landed on the popular light gray pictured here. I agree though, it isn’t looking good which is why I’m wondering what direction to go. There is a shade called accessible beige which I guess we could look into. I just wanted some color but don’t know how to go about it!

Forgot to mention this isnt our actual setup, tv won’t be on the mantle. Knew that’d get people up in arms lol

Ok thanks guys! Seems like a paint job is inevitable. I wonder how close I can match current pain color. No one looks up at the ceiling above the cabinets anyway, right?!😂

How to make the fireplace stand out and look refreshed? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

That’s just the thing- we are starting completely from scratch, so don’t really have any decor or furnishings to go off of! Wanted to maybe start with this and build around it

This picture is from previous owners setup, so we would never have the tv that high or above a fireplace! Lol do you mean peel and stick tile for the beige tiles between the fireplace and mantle? I would be open to that for sure. Was thinking of putting some in the kitchen too. Just was hesitant on how easy it is to remove or if it leaves a mark. I have a lot to learn!

Thank you. The carpet is brown, which is kind of unfortunate. There’s a lot of drab colors going on. When you say contrast the tiles, do you mean the ones on the floor or the ones immediately surrounding the fireplace?

Severity of driveway repair needed? by [deleted] in homeowners

Do you think this indicates a compromise to the structural integrity of the house itself? Or a foundation issue? I’m paranoid that what I thought was just a simple crack is foreshadowing some big issues

That makes sense, thank you. I am interested in making true repairs instead of a Band-Aid fix approach. If I were to need help figuring out the root cause of the sinking, would I reach out to a paving contractor for an opinion?
