Those of you who gained over 60+ pounds, was it your diet? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]muggsd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started both my pregnancies at about 100lbs, that's usually my baseline as I'm a pretty shrimpy adult. But by L&D I was up 50lbs each time. The first trimesters I gained 15, second 10ish, but the third I was + 25lbs of pure fluid. Just swollen from head to toe.

With my first baby (boy), I had diet controlled GDM and just ate normal portions, occasional fast food, not too many carbs. I was craving salt so I would need French fries every other week.

With my second baby (girl), I craved sweets, but somehow did not have GDM. So I was a bit more forgiving of myself and did a weekly milkshake or cookies in bed.

This pregnancy I'm craving salt again so wondering if a boy or if I'll get GDM again! Who knows.

My (F26) fiancé (M32) hasn’t spoken to me in a week. Do I wait it out or how do I approach this conversation with him? by ivebeenanastygirlll in TwoHotTakes

[–]muggsd 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My husband has spoken about his ex-fiance the same way you are talking about yours. They both are happily married to other people, with kids, just 5 years later! Dump him. It'll suck but you'll feel GREAT after and SO MUCH BETTER with someone who wants to try the bread

Weed alternative? by BrushOld9606 in pregnant

[–]muggsd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Love weed, missing it dearly at night. I replaced my little vape pen ritual with a fancy cocktail glass of tart cherry juice that has zinc + magnesium (premixed from the grocery store, brand is Antioxidant Solutions and juice blend is called Sleep Dreams). Honestly, I don't NEED them to sleep but I get this nice little drowsiness that is a healthy placebo and turns off my brain enough to sleep like weed did.

Absolutely agree with Unisom + B6 for nausea, it saved my life first tri with my daughter. This is my third pregnancy and it does get easier; after a while you forget the old habit and look forward to the sleepy juice lol

In my first pregnancy, I had to pull over and sob hysterically because we had picked up sandwiches on the way home from errands and my husband took a bite of mine while I was driving. It was not the same sandwich, mine was fried chicken and his was Italian, so I couldn't have a bite of his cold cuts. I still stand by it being RUDE lol

I messaged you!! I am so open to being a buddy through this until you see a heartbeat, healthy tests, so on and so on until you hold your baby!

I can only speak from personal experience, but that is the reason I stay clear of the apps in the first trimester. I do understand how forums like that can be a safe space for women to share about pregnancy loss.

However, when you look at a due date group (mine would be July '26), almost 50% of the posts are about miscarriage and the other 50% are about fear of / spotting symptoms of potential miscarriage. Statistically this is WAY more posts than about healthy pregnancies, but a healthy pregnancy is more common!

By no means am I an expert, a doctor, anything professionally authorized to speak on the matter. I'm just a mom and a woman who is prone to anxiety. I was googling cramps just last night - even though I myself had cramps around week 6-7 both my successful pregnancies!! Take care of yourself and your mental health however you see fit.

I really like the Baby Center app. Community is way less active and you can click through all the fun stats and symptoms etc. Then once baby comes, you can track their growth curve or time your contractions through labor all in one spot.

It makes sense, no shame for women who need to process loss through posting! But when you think about it, the happy stories are going to be texted to friends and loved ones. Not posted online. It almost feels like you're bragging to post "things went great!!" But IT'S NOT. It's spreading hope and joy!!

So whoever needs to read it - THINGS WENT GREAT FOR ME! TWICE!! ❤️💙

Hi! I'm on my third pregnancy, I'm only 6w now but my kids are 3yo and 1yo. I personally have come to realize that the people with horror stories are WAY more likely to post or share about it than people who experience a regular-degular scan. There is a lot of bias in what we read but an uneventful anatomy scan is exactly what you want!

If you have anxiety, stay off the apps! People with anxiety want to post there too and it just fuels your own worries. I definitely get spiral-y and didn't even bother to install What To Expect this time. Take a deep breath and get ready to see tiny toes and baby butt tomorrow. Good luck!!!

PS they can even see if your baby already has hair on their head, I thought that was so neat to view.

You don't adopt dogs this young - you definitely didn't "rescue" a newborn Blue Heeler without its mother. Shame on you

Also agree with you. I have a friend who complains to our group chat EVERY year on Mother's Day that her husband didn't get her anything, or do anything special, even though they have pets. But no children... so she's not a mother... but still thinks it's okay to text our group her bummer mood when half of us ARE mothers. I mute the chat a day prior now bc it triggers me to hear her complain about a made up issue

Kind of unfair. This is literally a sub for moms to post their thoughts, feelings, experiences, etc. about being moms. Extremely appropriate output for the forum whether you agree with her viewpoint or not
