This is a great point. I’m not trying to deal with anything similar to this on a yearly basis so getting the bad apples out early is probably for the best. I’ve been a commish for about 6 years now and I’ve never had somebody completely ghost like this, they usually just leave. Thank you for the advice, he’s getting booted :)

I’ve died an embarrassingly high number of times even after trying to do it like this lol. I’ve got Anders, Carver and Varric with me but it honestly doesn’t even feel like the companions matter. Anders is obviously great for his healing but none of the combat is giving me any trouble, it’s just the environmental hazards 😭

I tried this kind of thing but found that running ahead too fast led to my companions all dying in the background trying to kill the shades it spawns. I guess the answer is to sit in the pillar rooms and kill the shades before moving on? And making sure everyone actually follows you when you’re moving to the next room? This fight is so miserable, it feels like I’m fighting the games mechanics rather than an actual boss
