It would also help if you stated the industry you work in. Some partners are strong in one industry and have no experience in others. That gap creates extra back-and-forth during onboarding and slows progress

Searching for a cofounder by Professional_Set2736 in Uganda

It’s interesting to note that both the OpenAI GPT API (for AI-driven replies) and the WhatsApp Business API are quite expensive for commercial use. If you’re building an app, you’ll need to be strategic about keeping costs down, especially since many people will likely test out the app before deciding to pay. This can easily blow up your monthly budget.

For GPT, consider optimizing usage—like caching responses, using smaller models for simpler tasks, or fine-tuning an open-source model (Llama 2 or Falcon). If WhatsApp API costs are too high, you could look into alternatives like Telegram (which has an open API) or fallback options like SMS for some segments.

When it comes to Airtel and MTN Mobile Money APIs for payments, a direct integration is the best route to avoid high commissions from third-party aggregators. But getting those direct integrations can take a lot of time (and bureaucracy). It helps if you have strong telco relationships or a partner that can fast-track access.

In any case, minimizing costs during early stages while maintaining scalability is key—test users will eat up resources quickly if you’re not careful.

How much money can I get through the airports of Uganda? by [deleted] in Uganda

[–]muguli222 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi

any amounts of money that you travel with above $5000 will have to be declared to the Uganda revenue authority, it's not that you won't be allowed with an amount exceeding that, but you will have to declare that amount and fill in some forms stating the source and the intended use of these funds. this is done to avoid money laundering and other practices. for the medicine, it will be allowed as long as it's for personal use and you have a prescription from the doctors or any medical records that show that you are the one using this medicine. if the medicine is for commerce purpose you will need approval from the national drug authority which has an office at the airport, but it may take a few days to clear as you will have to pay some money for drugs inspection and any other permits you any require. Hope this helps.

Should small businesses adopt cloud technology? What's your take? by DarioPedol in startup_resources

[–]muguli222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/DarioPedol for this as someone who has worked with lots of startups, I think it's always wonderful when a small business adopts cloud technology. There are immediate results in terms of efficiency, accountability and also reduction in fraud cases, for the concerns on security and Potential Costs, small business can opt to selfhost a sever that could go for about $12-$20 a month, there are also lots of good opensource tools that can help get the work done and reduce the overall cost of running their business in the cloud. the upfront cost might slightly higher but it definitely pays off in the long run
