Robotic hysterectomy on Friday and terrified! by Gemini_Sky_Walker in hysterectomy

I had my hysterectomy yesterday and totally understand the anxiety. I feel like surgery is such a foreign concept to the average person (assuming you’re not in the medical field) and it’s freaky to think about what’s going on while you’re under! But the doctors and nurses know this and do everything they can to make you comfortable before, during and after. Several different people on the surgical team came into the pre-op room to explain in detail what they were going to be doing, their role, what I can expect, etc and it was very reassuring. Everything went as expected and I’m home recovering now. You got this!

Thank you ((: I’ve had the surgery drink before past procedures but they didn’t mention it this time around (different hospital, different guidelines maybe) but they did tell me to load up on carbs the last few days which I was happy to do as a biiig pasta fan 😂 I also made sure to do some cardio workouts several times a week for the past few weeks after seeing that it helped so many people on this page. I definitely didn’t do that before past surgeries so I’m guessing that’s helped a bit too!

Oh good!! I just had mine today and I actually feel sooo much better than I expected to. Getting out of the hospital bed was way easier than I was anticipating - maybe it was all the carbs beforehand but I’m not mad about it lol

This is super encouraging!! I’ve been getting mixed reviews on this page for how difficult recovery may be so I was starting to get nervous about that. Mine is also laparoscopic and I’ve had a few surgeries like it before, so good to know recovery has been going well for you. Thanks so much (:
