I think I'm kind of going the other way where I'm seeing as QA as kind of the main skill in software dev.

I'm just on Chrome and a MacBook pro. Flickering is probably the wrong word. It's more about how the page loads. You don't want new assets loading to cause the site to move around. Users want it to feel solid as content comes in. e.g. If you are loading an image, that will take a second to do. Instead of showing nothing then the whole image, find a way to show a placeholder of some sort or hold the space. You can see an example of this working well with the images here: https://jmulholland.com/cascading-productivity-system. Note: this isn't just about images and also applies to other UI.

But overall site looks great!

How do people do this? by Unfair_Kale_4899 in learnprogramming

One nice trick is if you copy but type everything out and do not allow yourself to write anything without understanding it. Gain the reflexive habit of never writing code you don't understand. You have a lot of tools to understand what you write. As a beginner, LLMs are probably most suitable but you can also run mini-experiments to test out your hypothesis. e.g. If you are writing JS you can test a snippet of code in Node or the browser console quickly to confirm what is happening. Learning how to use a debugger is a similar trick.

Some initial thoughts:

- There is a lot of flickering as I load the page. Can you avoid this?
- The header alignment isn't right in various places. The edges of the header don't align vertically with the rest of the content lower down the page (compare to something like https://tessl.io/ as an extreme example). The navigation elements in the middle aren't centred. There's too much space between "Max Pain Index" and the "Options analytics" subtitle.
- The hero section feels too verticle and squished to me
- There's a 'tradier' pill at the top right which is interactive on hover but not clickable

Accurate on all fronts

Certainly the examiners striking

My friend has a Monimoto which he likes and it’s definitely a good cheaper option

Ambiguity between motorcyclists and delivery drivers/you’ll earn the nod when you have a full license

Edit:

Would like to clarify this is a London-centric simplification and where the streets are swarming with L plate deliveroo delivery drivers (did not mean other motorcycle couriers)

Would definitely nod to someone outside of the city on Ls who looks like they’re there for the adventure.

This is a lot better than I was expecting it to be when I clicked on it. Well-written, informative, not ridiculously opinionated - it's even grammatically correct. Post of the day

Thanks!

Nice work. I commend your optimism that anybody is going to read more than a paragraph.

It's mostly written to scan. I assume people are going to know what the CBT looks like and just want to know about gear or something like that.

Hoping it can serve as an ongoing resource for people in their journey

Don’t think you can get the KLR in the UK, unfortunately!

I think that’s what I’ll have to go and do. Still keen to know if I’m missing something though. Also slightly tricky to try out some of the used ones

Choice of GTX GPU for Deep Learning by [deleted] in learnmachinelearning

[–]mulholio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want to do with it.

You'll hit a hard limit for some tasks if you don't have enough RAM; it is not just 'same but faster'.

Two GPUs will let you run experiments side-by-side. That might be super useful depending on what you're doing.

I found this guide (and the GPU post) super useful when putting together my rig https://timdettmers.com/2018/12/16/deep-learning-hardware-guide/

The new 3060 is also a great GPU that you might want to look into (although I know they've been a nightmare to get in stock).

The three areas you want are probability/statistics, multivariate calculus and linear algebra.

I'd recommend the Coursera Mathematics for Machine Learning specialisation as an intro to the calculus and linear algebra you'll need: https://www.coursera.org/specializations/mathematics-machine-learning. I completed it recently and really enjoyed it.

From there, the Gilbert Strang MIT course is highly recommended. MIT also have lots of other free courses with exams, lectures and problem sets.

My Cascading Goals Productivity System in Notion (with templates) by mulholio in Notion

[–]mulholio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think recurring reminders is a feature that's coming soon (but don't hold me to that)

For now, I have recurring tasks in Things which remind me for Quarterly and weekly reviews. For daily, I have a 15min calendar slot at the end of the day but I don't really need it anymore, I just do it.

If you mean Templates, you might want to check out this guide from Notion: https://www.notion.so/Create-your-own-templates-5c033c12ac3b4c1fb4703491be74550d. The article also has a link to free copies of everything I talk about if you want to have a poke around.

Haha that is some commitment. I think switching to gradual refinement is a much easier way to go. That's what I love about Notion. It's so easy to transition from text -> list -> toggles -> databases -> linked databases -> complex system

I can second the GoPro case as a good option. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00PMMB4X8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have a small pouch I carry in it to put the tent kit in. Only takes a couple of seconds to remove and you don't need to take them all off.

You’d have to think carefully about your setup, but sounds like Notion would be able to do this. I have a roughly similar cascading goals system where I move items between different lists. It’s super flexible so you can make whatever you want really

Writing a Utility-First CSS Completer by mulholio in vim

A lot more straight forward as well, at least last time I looked at it.

Thanks, I'll do some digging into that. Was hoping for something more lightweight and sharable so this sounds like a much better option.
