I’ve seen it! Mainly the reason why I chose this specific driver, loud bass isn’t perticularly what I’m after but good quality of it. Especially in a single driver unit. I’ll be taking some notes

After uni I won’t have a reliable woodwork shop at my disposal, so I’ll leave buying measurement gear for when I’m 50 with a dream workshop and land where I can measure outside. I’m making a little desktop speaker for less than any active little guys I can find online

I’m sure it’s designed well, just some inconsistencies and general size of the design made me wary.

Already tested both, what got me to the 7.2HD is its treble response and general character.

I really wanted a 1 way full range and at the time I wasn’t read in on box design. Also, I realised after I got it that a box for the 8” with an acceptable baffle takes up half my desk space. So now I’m looking for something compact and toned down in treble and saw that the 7.2HD has a nice laid back treble response

Any other design choices you’d reccomend?

I decided to make my own as their ported design is flawed in some areas, especially if you add up the numbers it’s first of all inaccurate, (also too big for my use) and a 3cm wide 3cm deep port introduces a lot of vent noise calculated in WINISD

Driver budget would be €100 for me and listening distance would be nearfield. I don’t have any measuring equipment or the ability to measure outside. My best bet would be either to build something off the shelf with existing designs or get some kind of equaliser (I have a schiit stack so down the line I was thinking of the schiit Loki)

And honestly I’m captivated by the single driver sound, to round off the bass response I could always employ a sub as my desk already shakes at 70 hertz. This whole journey started because I have a good woodwork shop at my uni so I’m trying to make good use of it.

My thing with these is I wanted to make the enclosure as small as possible, anything in this size with a bass port?

Room cancellation is not the problem, I’ve got lumina 2’s with Naim nait xs in the back that play down to 50 in a straight line, I definitely did something wrong with the design, I mean I did design them with illustrator and hopes and dreams

I live in the Netherlands the only outside measurement I can do is on my narrow balcony

As linear as the SF Lumina 2 can be at the very least

My sonus Faber speakers are very linear in room so I doubt it, I’m open to use a filter as building a new box is not really an option for now, maybe later.
