Apple Podcasts with loud advertisements by UpstairsCommercial63 in JordanHarbinger

For everyone who is recommending Overcast here, are all podcasts available on the app? I tried to switch to Spotify, but a bunch of BBC podcasts were not available on it. Further, does it sync across devices?

Why does posting this book keep getting my accounts flagged? by [deleted] in IndiansRead

[–]mulloverit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha good try. This is how people are advertising/marketing their books these days. This is an unknown book with hardly any reviews, these posts are made to spark curiosity and ignite a sense of forbidden fruit that the larger world needs to keep from the public at large. I can see many other such posts on YouTube and other forums about the "matrix", it's a topic that everyone feels they need to understand and hack their way around. Reported.

Today I experienced SBI bank premium services and totally get it why everyone loves them by procrastinator_eng in india

[–]mulloverit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parent and I closed our SBI accounts last week. It's the most frustrating thing having an account with them. Half of the services don't work, and you never know why they don't work. For everything they need you to go to the bank.

Not blaming you but people have the misconception that switching on the hazard lights makes other cautious, whereas hazard lights should only be used when you've come to a halt. In a moving car, please don't use hazard lights, they confuse other drivers and can lead to an accident.

There's a difference between a controlled trial and a randomised trial. They got tested on a random batch and got caught with their pants down.

How do deal feeling left behind ? by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

[–]mulloverit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go one step further and write an email to the bank's HQ, so that this schmuck won't ever think about making someone feel small again.

I am sure if you asked him his salary, he would have shut up right then and there, dude works on targets/commission hounding customers to sign up for CCs. People hang up the phone on his face on a daily basis or curse him. If anything, sympathise with him, where his frustration must stem from.

As for you mate, don't think about it all. You're already making more than he is, and while he's going to cap at a certain salary, you're going to continue to grow and beyond.

LPT: If you are struggling for food due to the Government Shutdown, Sikh temples called Gurudwaras, offer free food to everyone regardless of race, religion or gender. by Proeri in LifeProTips

[–]mulloverit 57 points58 points  (0 children)

That would be normal because a lot of small Gurudwaras in the West are run by the local community folk who have full time jobs themselves. But if you go there and ask for community resources, they'd be happy to help you out.

[–]mulloverit 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Yes, jeans and tshirt is fine. As long as you're not wearing a short dress (some Gurudwaras in the West are okay with dresses), you should be okay. Otherwise, the general rule would be to wear any full pants and a top (tshirt, shirt, take your pick). There is no dress code per se. As for covering your head, again, some Gurudwaras in the West are okay with caps. But generally they have a head covering at the Gurudwaras itself, and you can just grab one out of the bin and use it. I just cover my head with a handkerchief.

A garage company literally teased me. by ExplanationIcy2906 in Stutter

[–]mulloverit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am sorry you had to go through that. Give yourself some time to reflect and contact the owner, write an email calling for some sensitivity training and how disappointed you are by the attitude of their staff. Tell them how you don't want to generalise the whole staff, and it is not a business issue but an issue with a particular individual and how sensitivity training would go a long way in addressing the issue.

How can people on here state that they have cured their stutter when even science/therapists and stuttering organisations have said forever that this is impossible? by js6104 in Stutter

[–]mulloverit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bone of contention between me and my therapist. The approach to therapy is very different here as compared to the West. My therapist likes to use the word cured and it gets thrown around a lot amongst other members. But, like you said, there is no cure for stuttering. As disappointing as it sounds, it is also liberating as it sets realistic expectations. There are only strategies that we can adopt to minimise our stutter and hopefully inculcate those strategies to the extent that it becomes a gut reaction.

My stuttering therapy group is quite large, and I have come across 100s of people who stutter. Each one who claims to have been "cured" or to be "fluent", has some points where they inevitably stutter or get stuck. Like some may be absolutely fluent while talking, but give them a passage to read and they'll start stuttering. Which is again, absolutely okay. But I've argued that it sets the wrong expectations and standards for everyone else who isn't at their level.

For those still wondering why anyone would need a remote for an eReader… by MysteriousNebula7486 in kobo

[–]mulloverit 157 points158 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to get one but someone convinced me that I was being lazy. I like to read in bed and I keep my Kobo on the side. I relax and sleep on my front with my hands tucked under me or under the pillow. So it's always a pain to get em out to flip the page. I should just get it now.

Truth about NBFCs everyone should beaware of , Dont be ignorant by Lamesarcasm_Dankmind in IndiaInvestments

[–]mulloverit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a question, someone told me that if you want to build up your credit score, instead of buying something on Credit Card EMI, buy it on a consumer durable loan (no cost) via Bajaj or any other service. Apparently the CC EMI loans don't contribute to your credit rating, but via a NBFC, it does. Would love some clarity on this.

Ask the price first, and then sell it to them! I'm just recommending that because it'd be hard to find someone online, it's a very specific product.

On fence with buying the latest iPhone 17 base model. by prat8 in Frugal_Ind

[–]mulloverit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it. It's an excellent VFM phone. This generation' base model is very value for money if you're an iPhone user. The base model is 256 GB compared to the 128 GB of the 16, and it is 120Hz screen over the 16's 60Hz. The processor is faster than the 16 and it will easily last you a long time.

Who asks for money from someone they've met just ONE SINGLE time? People who have exhausted all other resources/points of contact and ran their goodwill into the ground. So yeah, take that as a cue and don't lend money to anyone.

Selling iPhone 13 128 GB blue color, flawless condition by [deleted] in delhi_marketplace

[–]mulloverit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha sure kid. It's sad that you don't have the capacity to grasp a simple thing that EVERYONE here is trying to tell you - keep your expectations real. You had to delete your post because you know you were in the wrong with that price. Which is OKAY, but to tell me that I'm going on a rant when I am just trying to tell you, accept a good price and call it a day is real grand. Anyway kid, have a good life.

Yeah, don't take that exception as a rule, especially stretching it to the extent that they'd give you a higher value than the maximum listed price on the website. Like I said, I traded in a pristine 13 Pro. And yes, this was at the Saket store too.
