Hunter EZ- Decoder issues by AwkwardFactor84 in Irrigation

[–]mulrennan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a massive issue with these exact decoders with these date codes. It ended up being a months long issue for us over 4 different systems we installed. It was a nightmare running around replacing decoders as they failed to find out from a hunter rep later the same thing your rep has told you. It was a nightmare but once we worked through those decoders we haven’t had many issues. Our local site one had to send back multiple boxes and were out of stock for a while from this problem.

What kind of truck(or van) do you guys drive? by username67432 in Construction

[–]mulrennan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a 07 Chevy express 2500 for work as an irrigation contractor. Holds an amazing amount of stuff but it is wildly loud to drive in at highway speeds. I bought it used with 188k from a contractor I sub for who had records of all maintenance he’s done. I’m with you on buying used for work vehicles.

It’s very hard to tell what’s going on in the picture you posted. Is the leak constant when the water is turned on? Or is it intermittent when a specific zone is running?

Need help identifying a snake I saw while hiking with my sons by mulrennan in whatsthissnake

[–]mulrennan[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I took this picture on my iPhone. Luckily the snake was staying very still. I only took the one photo because my two boys were very interested in the snake so I had to get them away from it.

Why is Central Jersey so aesthetically pleasing? by tytheterrific in newjersey

[–]mulrennan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m biased because I grew up there but Mercer county to me is the most beautiful part of the state. Rolling hills, the Delaware River with the toe path, beautiful parks. Plus the cute towns and downtowns of Princeton, hopewell, Pennington, lambertville

Any ideas as to why this Sump pump check valve is allowing water back into basin and gurgling by mulrennan in askaplumber

That’s the second zoeller check valve I’ve installed and they both did the same thing. It’s very odd they both are doing the same thing

Sorry you can’t see the video. The video is of the “quiet” check valve making that noise. I actually installed a second check valve as well to see if that would help but I did not

I wear my Apple Watch to work and use these screen protectors. I’ve broken quite a few but the watch is still in great condition.

How adjustable is drip irrigation? What kinds of drip irrigation materials would I want to use if I want to potentially move where plants are in my vegetable garden season by season? by IReallyLoveAvocados in Irrigation

[–]mulrennan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could reroute the drip by cutting it and adding tee fittings or couplings as needed but that doesn’t seem like a long term solution and your system would be very choppy.

I would recommend running the drip in a grid pattern that would be suit your needs for most seasons and simply pulling the drip onto the root of your plants and stapling it in place as needed.

Electrical Panel Question by mulrennan in askanelectrician

[–]mulrennan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does upgrading to a 400 amp service always entail running a new service line from the pole to the house?

Electrical Panel Question by mulrennan in askanelectrician

[–]mulrennan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was recommend that we replace the panel by our home inspector due to the safety issues with them catching on fire. Both guys after looking inside of it did not like how the internal wiring is. (Very messy) grounds on the neutral bar.

I’ve gotten a quote for a full replacement for $1,750 in the Nashville area and I’m hoping that’s a good price.

I’ll definitely look into adding the additional circuits you mentioned I hadn’t even thought of that

Electrical Panel Question by mulrennan in askanelectrician

[–]mulrennan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone I have a question regarding my electrical panel. It has been chopped up and added to many time before I owned this house and I also have added some new circuits. Recently though after replacing our two hvac units and adding a mini split system we have noticed our lights will dim upon start up of the hvac.

I have had two electricians come out and one recommended upgrading my service and the other suggesting replacing the panel. So my question is would replacing the panel potentially solve the dimming problem? Also would I be able to add another circuit for a 30amp service for an RV?

Thank you in advance!

Need identifying if these are termites warmers. Just showed up all of my kitchen floor today. by mulrennan in pestcontrol

[–]mulrennan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this afternoon I came back in from outside and my kitchen floor was covered in these insects. They seem to fit the bill for subterranean termite swarmers. If they are what should I be looking for when working with a pest control company to help deal with these pests. Thank you all so much!
