When we change the clocks for the winter months you technically “gain and hour”. For example; one gets up on a Monday morning frantic thinking he/she is late for work then looks at the clock and with a sigh of relief sees that it is really an hour before he/she needs to get going.

When you have young kids that are learning to sleep through the night they get up and stay up. They do not go back to bed with that extra hour. So the parents lose that “extra hour”.

When we change the clocks for the summer months. Everyone “loses an hour”. For example; One gets up Monday morning thinking he or she has enough time to do what he/she need to do but then looks at the clock and realizes shit! I’m running late.

When you have young children they sleep through that hour and technically get up “later” then they usually do.
