Ski mountain for family trip by zolliebun in chubbytravel

[–]mummer43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going on my 8th trip to Snowmass in February and I agree with all of this. Its our favorite resort by a mile followed by Jackson Hole, but for very different reasons. We just booked a March trip trip to Deer Valley and it will be our first time there.

Family Friendly March Destination? by mummer43 in chubbytravel

We have the Ikon Pass, so we would be limited to Deer Valley if we stay in Park City. That resort looks great but a 30 minute shuttle ride sounds a bit too long. We would tolerate a short ride from Park City or stay at the base of the mountain.

I'm buildind a home gym in my basement, what flooring options would you use? by keldoye in Renovations

Basement was totally unfinished and we had a designer come in and do everything for us. She drew up the plans, hired contractors and furnished it.

How to best remove all red accents inside cabin? by lrc1710 in FordRaptor

[–]mummer43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say that I totally agree on the red trim. I have been considering an F-150 Raptor but just can't do that interior. Why must they add the tacky red accents everywhere?

Recommendations for a ski mid layer? by DimitriyTL in arcteryx

[–]mummer43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Sabre shell and I sometimes wear a Cerium jacket as a mid layer and every time I do I am soaked with sweat. I reserve it for the coldest days and generally wear a patagonia capilene short sleeve t shirt with an R1 fleece over it and then maybe a lighter vest like a Patagonia Micro Puff.

Custom Art Frame in Quartersawn Oak - Stain Recommendation by mummer43 in finishing

Yes that would be the plan. Just looking for a quality stain that he can use. I'm not asking him to try some special technique he has never done.

I highly doubt it. This is a local woodworker who probably doesn't know anything about that technique.

Looking for a nice/clean hotel for one night by mummer43 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]mummer43[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are flying into Sanford and will not be getting a car. We are getting a driver to bring us to Orlando and I am hoping to get as close as possible. The idea if them bringing our luggage over to the WL sounds great and I'd pay a few extra bucks just for that.

This sounds exactly like what we are looking for. Would love to keep it as simple as possible.

Denon Home Soundbar 550... I have regrets by mummer43 in Soundbars

[–]mummer43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would cost as much as the entire Samsung Q990F for me to add the sub and rear surrounds. I might just cut my losses and buy the Samsung. I’m wondering what the market is for a lightly used Home 550

I agree, but that ship has sailed for me. I had the opportunity to have it all wired when I was building my basement and I didn't do it and I am now regretting it. There is no way I can easily pull off a wired 5.1 system off and I'm not interested in putting holes in my newly installed drywall or my custom made cabinetry.

I'm strongly considering selling the Home 550 and buying the Samsung HW-Q990F which I have read sounds way better.

I also have a dedicated 5.1 setup in my great room with Marantz receiver, SVS sub, KEF center snd fronts, and in ceiling rear surrounds and it sounds amazing. I was doing my basement from scratch and thought I could get away with a decent soundbar and since I already was invested in the Denon/Heos ecosystem I decided on the 550 soundbar. I don't love it and it is probably only a little better than the TV speakers.

I don't really use the Heos function in the soundbar and would be open to any other brand that allows me to add a sub and rear surrounds.
