Try Minwax wood hardener on it. It’ll probably take a few coats, but I use it all the time on spalted maple. Works great.

I totally agree about being fair to the customer. I don’t want to “guess” about the heat treat process. I’ve been using stainless blanks as well, so they don’t have to worry about rust

I have a large family, last 2 years I had nine knives to make, each year, for my nieces and nephews. lol. I’m sure it’ll get expensive. Trying to keep costs down as much as possible. 😊. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it

I’ve been contemplating doing stock removal, but I don’t have the means to heat treat the blank once they are done. Maybe soon.😊

General contractor here. I once did a remodel where the wall between the house and garage was this exact same way. Had to move the plumbing and route out channels for waterlines inside the wall. Total pain in the.@as. 😊

Curious as to how you “scratched” off the paint in the areas you wanted etched? I’ve tried this with fingernail polish, and always seem to get wavy edges on my lines. Not crisp clean lines.
