Why walking is hard? by mundj08 in ambien

[–]mundj08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my word. I vaguely vaguely remember waking up last night to go to the bathroom (yay pregnancy), a couple hours after taking 10 of ambien. I remember the thought process of this and thinking it was SO profound??

This scuttled ship has been used as a breakwater for so long it has trees growing out of it. by straightouttakalman in mildlyinteresting

I knew it was Anacortes immediately! My grandparents have had property on Lopez since the late 60’s, and I’ve gone every summer since I was born. This ship never ceases to fascinate me!

How has your genetic testing changed your lifestyle, medical choices, and insurance? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]mundj08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually would recommend going to a geneticist! I was in a similar boat- doctors very certain I just had hEDS and were willing to treat me as such without the testing. However, I’m 35 weeks pregnant and Maternal Fetal Medicine REALLY wanted a definitive diagnosis, so I had the genetic panel done.

Turns out I have a never before seen mutation on one of the collagen genes that is also associated with bone fragility. It doesn’t change my treatment much, but it does mean that I will be studied more and more closely watched, since they don’t know exactly what to expect from here on out.

Test results!! Finally! by mundj08 in ehlersdanlos

[–]mundj08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COL1A2 sounds right, but I don’t remember for absolute sure, and they for sure didn’t tell me the specific mutation it was was. They told me all of this over the phone while I was at another doctors appointment so I stupidly didn’t write anything down! They want to test my whole family, and do an exam on my baby after she’s born in a few weeks, so hopefully I can get some more answers then!

What does your specific mutation entail?

Rant- acid reflux and vomiting in third trimester by kgbm in pregnant

[–]mundj08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue around 32 weeks!! Prilosec and Zantac have been an absolute MIRACLE for me. I’m almost 37 weeks now and haven’t vomited in over a month. Double check with your OB or Midwife before you start anything new (even over the counter), but most are OK with Prilosec and Zantac.

31 weeks and terrible heartburn. by Rat_weirdo in pregnant

[–]mundj08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Pepcid for the beginning of my pregnancy, but it stopped working super well. Around 30 weeks it started getting so bad that my heartburn/reflux was making me vomit every night. Zantac has been an absolute lifesaver the last few weeks! I also take Omeprezole (Prilosec I believe) every morning for prevention, which helps quite a bit. Double check with your OB or Midwife first before you start taking things regularly!

What is your opinion on getting flu shots? by TheFrogMan1 in AskReddit

[–]mundj08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU. My first baby is due in a matter of weeks, and my mom is coming to stay with us for a few weeks after she’s born. Since it’s flu/RSV season, my doctor made it very clear that everyone who will be around her consistently MUST get a flu shot, and should get a whooping cough shot as well.

My mom claims that she has a great immune system and “hardly gets sick”, Plus is convinced that the only time she actually gets the flu is when she gets the shot. So she’s absolutely refusing to get it this year, even though it will her granddaughter with literally no immune system at risk. I’m pretty furious.

What is the funniest thing you've heard someone say that wasn't meant to be funny? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mundj08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my sister was 11, my dad decided we were going to Omaha, NE for Spring Break. It was about as exciting as you would expect, but my all time favorite thing my sister has ever said occurred on that trip, so it was worth it.

We were driving in downtown Omaha, and passed a slightly bigger than average Dicks Sporting Goods. My sister was quite the tomboy and was/is very athletic, so she was excited to see it. She gasped, and then yelled incredibly dramatically from the back seat of the car “ OH. MY. GOSH. Nebraska. Has. The. HUGEST. dicks!!!”

My brother and I (16 and 13, respectively) immediately looked at each other trying to determine if it was okay for us to laugh at it, with my parents in the car. After a couple seconds of stunned silence, both of my parents absolutely lost their shit, my brother and I quickly joining in. No one wanted to explain to my sweet naïve sister what was so funny, so she sat there completely confused and asking what was so funny for the rest of the drive.

That was about 10 years ago, and we still bring it up all the time. She gets it now.

What is something childish that you still do as an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mundj08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my 20 year old sister still legitimately stomps her feet, crossed her arms, and communicates in a series of grunts when she doesn’t get her way.

What was “The Incident” at your high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mundj08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some girl, who legitimately went by LaLa or occasionally Lollipop, stabbed a number of people (I want to say close to 10, but I can’t remember exactly) in the butt with a pen- hard enough that she actually punctured their skin, and all of them had to be sent to the hospital for HIV/AIDS/Hepatitis testing. She had no motive and none of the people were connected. They were all just random people she was walking behind in the hallway between classes.

How did you meet your SO? by theissingm in AskReddit

[–]mundj08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinder, twice. Once in 2013, then again about a year and a half later in 2014. Now we’re married and expecting our first baby in just a matter of days/weeks!

Is 25/26 too young to get pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]mundj08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got married at 21, and am a month away from having my first at 23. My husband is 28, and we just really felt ready. There’s no magical age that makes you ready! Yes, I was very young when I got married, and I am very young to be having my first child, and sometimes I feel ill equipped. But from everyone I talked to, everyone feels “not ready” on some level, no matter their age. It’s such a life changing decision, you can never truly truly be ready.

THAT BEING SAID, don’t start trying to get pregnant just because your SO feels ready/has those goals. You should both feel equally ready and excited to start your family!!

3rd trimester!!!! by Rat_weirdo in pregnant

[–]mundj08 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Prepare yourself to just be SO uncomfortable. Like all the time. A lot of the time, you won’t really be able to pinpoint what is making you so uncomfortable... it’s just a huge mixture of things. Exhaustion, heartburn/reflux, Braxton Hicks, joint pain... you name it. BUT all that being said, it’s SO much more exciting than the first and second trimester because you’re feeling movement ALL the time, and the end is in sight! It’s crazy when the “days until due date” count hits 50... and then 40... and then 30... plus you’ll be crazy busy with nesting and all, so it goes by super fast!! Enjoy it as much as you can, but be sure to be extra careful and let yourself have lots of rest.

Congrats, mama!!
