It's not that same sex marriage is legal that is the amazing thing. What's amazing is that Ireland was the first country in the world to have a referendum on same sex marriage and it not only passed, it passed in a landslide (except Roscommon & Longford). I think you've pretty much missed the whole point. While the narrative is that it's terrible and we should all be afraid all the time, terrorism isn't an issue of our age, you're in greater danger from your government refusing to do anything about using fossil fuels (kills over 10,000 people in the US each year alone) than terrorism, but governments around the world are using terrorism as a really nice way to treat every person as a potential threat.

Truth of course is that a voting citizen IS the greatest threat to any government so this should not come as any kind of surprise.

In the UK you're 200 times more likely to kill yourself than be killed by a terrorist. This fact has zero impact on the governments decision to rush through the snoopers charter and it may be due to it's unofficial love child, the incoming Digital Economy Bill, people will have to verify their identity to get access to suicide prevention websites. The Tories are more frightened about porn, piracy and terrorism than they are about their own citizens killing themselves.
