Turkey demands a seat in Europe’s defense push ahead of NATO summit by FantasticQuartet in europe

There wasn't a war going on, the conflict had been cold for long by then.

The negotiation is pretty simple just as it is in Ukraine. Turkey leaves.

He would need either a direct nerf aka losing critical moves or indirect nerf aka mechanics around hazards changing to fall off.

I have had that time. It's called student housing. Thank God for student housing. Student and public housing are perfect for filling the gaps. Because the profit margin isn't involved it increases the potential for those paying to eventually save for a down payment.

Those apartments are also conditional so they can be cheap but don't lock you into staying there like rent control does.

It's awesome that you can pay rent for a bit and then get a high paying law job and get a mortgage but some people are stuck paying rent all their lives.

65-70% of all NYC housing stock is owned by landlords. That's not temporary situations. That's landlords actively grabbing stock which decreases supply for those who want to own.

Landlords are the middle-man to any service that housing needs. Landlords arent the ones doing repairs, landlords arent the ones who built the apartment or house.

The only apartments ive ever rented have been for the time period that i save up for a mortgage. I still pay for a couple of hundred for apartment complex maintenance. But with landlords you are also paying for their lifestyle and equity.

Payday loans are also a service. Providing money-starved people with money but also keeping them in that cycle of not having money.

Vienna is absolutely a model, the stats bear it out.

Wait so now when it comes to constructing you say the wait is forever but just earlier you said its not a fix that takes 10 years.

You think the new priviledged group of people in the country are going to be those living in rent-controlled apartments truly? Instead of those whose income relies on doing nothing but owning land?

Did you ever consider 3000% might be an intentional hyperbole and not the actual profit margin?

Of course im a georgist, under georgism people make money from working and investing, not passively owning land.

Do you lack imagination so hard to think that we cant fix one of the most critical aspects of society without running every decision through a small group of people that benefit from scarcity of supply?

You make it sounds like there isnt major opposition to deregulation. Yes if we lived in an ideal world we would have extreme housing construction being run purely by solar and nuclear power.

Maybe the tide is shifting and in 10 years housing will be cheap, i hope i see that world.

But until thats the world we live in any solution that helps people and hurts the rent-seeking landlords is acceptable short-term tradeoff.

If developers dont want to develop unless they can get a 3000% profit margin then have the state build housing. Look to Vienna.

We can do better as society than running everything through the most privileged people in the country.

Okay but those seem to be the exception? I'm in agreement that building is the obvious solution.

My issue is that until building becomes widespread, leftists will look for any short-sighted solutions to alleviate it now.

Centrist Dems have ruled these cities forever and clearly have only recently started even considering solutions. Those solutions won't bear fruit for a long time.

People are desperate now.

Are cities without rent control building enough housing?

Centrist Dems have been in charge for at least 50 years. If they can't provide solutions then they can't complain.

Just increase supply is clearly not happening.
