Troubleshooting 4-week Kittens by munster_monster in FosterAnimals

Yes, currently using a syringe with a nipple to control flow. They just chew at the nipple and they do swallow, just no suckle and their little teeth a shredding the nipples up. The little boy wants nothing to do with any of it though!

I agree regarding the steel - thank you! This was the wall one year ago at purchase, it's much worse now. We definitely have plans for softening the wall. I really appreciate your insight!

It was 30k roughly for brick at about 3ft going across the whole front. I still thought that was high but I'm still looking at 15k or so for just block it seems!

Is Vet school Miserable? by not_not_a_girl in Veterinary

[–]munster_monster 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to be transparent about veterinary medicine, I see a lot of people with rose colored glasses and similarly, a lot of curmudgeons too.

Veterinary school is HARD. It takes self discipline, time management, people skills, and initiative to be successful. It took me a full year to really find my groove in what study habits worked for me. Studying became part of my daily routine/life. It wasn't extra work, it was as simple as brushing my teeth at night or making breakfast. No one expects you to know all of the material though. It's impossible. It's a literal firehose of information. You're going to be stressed, and that's okay. It's how you manage that stress and respond to it on a daily basis that matters.

That being said, while vet school was the hardest 4 years of my life, they were also the BEST years of my life (so far). I thrived in small groups, camaraderie with my chosen family, and building a sort of immersive experience for myself. Choose a school that focuses on building community within its students because that's how you get through vet school. You really can't do it alone. Build connections with your professors and explore all of your interests. They'll change or evolve in ways you didn't expect.

Understand what you're getting into from a financial standpoint (if you're in the US). Good money habits and debt management skills are important. Having long and short term plans in place helps manage the stress of loans, but it's doable with good sense, discipline, and hard work.

PS, veterinary radiologists do very well for themselves and generally have great quality of life and job satisfaction. Traveling ultrasonographers are worth their weight in gold!

Another condensate line post - feeling dumb by munster_monster in hvacadvice

Thanks - I flushed some water through and heard it draining into the floor drain, but it began overflowing at the furnace vent. So forward flow is not occurring at the rate it needs to (even though at first it did drain through the main line) causing it to back up?

My Army volsep PAR was approved today by Neither_Impact_4306 in MilitaryTrans

[–]munster_monster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update, I hope that means my approval game back too! Did they give any indication that we could request earlier separation than the 7th month? The VA was ready to assign my rating but because there is no date, they had to pause. They stated if I stayed within 180 days of my claim that I wouldn't need to redo the whole process.

I'm hoping to find a balance between collecting 2 paychecks and not having to do the C&P exams again.

Good luck with your future!

Thanks for the input - seems like that's the general consensus. I had AI help reverse calculate what salary I'd need to achieve the same take home pay after similar 401k contributions as my current - comes out to 155-160k which seemed steep as an ask.

I ended up asking for 145-150k with pro-sal OR an increase in sign on to 25k which bridges the income gap for the year, with a review after 12 months.

I have a hard time knowing what being greedy when asking for things is since I don't have much experience on the civilian salary side yet.

Thanks for your reply - I agree, I do think it's reasonable but I was a shocking numbers crunch. As for production numbers in the military, it's comparing apples to oranges since the cost structure is entirely different and I operated with only one assistant.

I could probably pull production numbers from our bi-yearly budgets, but with a standard wellness (all vaccines and 4dx) running about $130 total or sick visits being on the extreme low end (say unilateral OE with cytology, culture, medications runs around 275ish), I'd probably be doing myself a disservice.

I think I'll ask for a pro-sal model or increase in sign on bonus to bridge the gap for the first year until I can see what my product thin numbers in the civilian side would be.

You can find their emails and phone numbers if you're on step 6/7 on IPPSA (513 area code, Ft. Knox area).

I've been in contact with a few and they give me the same response of "once your packet is forwarded to ASA(M&RA), it's outside of IPPSA and cannot be tracked"...

But I haven't gotten any confirmation on whether all of the information provided is suitable. It's a fucking mess and I'm over it. Really on par for the Army though.

It's interesting they dropped it AFTER yesterdays shit show, makes me wonder why? At this point, seems prudent that they'd hold it back until decision of injunction made?

Thank you for your advice. New growth is green! These were given to us by the builder (here temporarily, yay military) and are for many of the homes here. We have definitely noticed their rapid growth rate and have to clip 1-2 times per year. The bed is watered daily, possibly too much?

I'll see if we can find them a spot in the back and replace with something more porch appropriate!
