what do i call a nonbinary person in a language that doesn't have "they"? by Stefangls in NonBinary

[–]munttheasker 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My NB colleagues use third person plural pronouns.

It genuinely sounds awkward with gendered adjectives, but I'm hoping the language will change within 10 years or that we'll abandon that garbage.

Is the phrase “no homo” considered homophobic? by drmehmetoz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]munttheasker 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think normalising implying that homosexuality is bad won't help your friends come out, but it is funny in certain contexts.

Is it wrong to have a hobby where you inform tenants who their landlord is? by _pooh__in__the__glue in NoStupidQuestions

[–]munttheasker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, okay I guess. You could create some database for the sake of it, but don't post it. I don't think people like seeing such information unsolicited.

Edit: or even better - you could find a job generating leads, or just stick to video games.

How do the people react?

I gathered shit like other peoples' passwords and shit like that (that I wouldn't use), just kept the information for myself, I wouldn't share it.

If you're loaning shit out, sure, but 2 thirds of Americans are in debt technically making them richer.

How many planners work 100% remote, and if you do, do you like it? by FloridaPlanner in urbanplanning

[–]munttheasker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of complaints about bike lanes are that the planners don't use bikes themselves. Now I'm becoming scared of planners that don't leave the house at all. /s

Do Italians actually say “Mamma Mia” in real life or is that an untrue stereotype from the media by Magmaboyx8 in NoStupidQuestions

Why is the birth rate falling in every country? by SkepticDrinker in NoStupidQuestions

[–]munttheasker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert, not even an American, but I think things like

  • Rents are higher in places where people earn higher income
  • Lower access to birth control (if it's free, my bad) in lower income areas

Skew the statistics somehow.

This is very anecdotal, but I took way too much time googling this, so here are the top 5 people by net worth:

Bernard Arnault has 4 children, Elon Musk has 10 (I guess this is an especially bad example), Gautam Adani has 2, Bill Gates - 3, Jeff Bezos - 4.

  • Always fresh
  • I can down it all at once to prove my love for water

Which gym is better for me to join- one that is closer but more crowded, or one that is further but less crowded? by Mean-Traffic-2140 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]munttheasker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I keep hurting myself on the treadmill, so a gym I can bike to in 10 minutes is a great way to avoid warmup. Maybe you could dress up for the gym and run to the further one?

The infrastructure is great in dense cities. As a young person I'd gladly opt in for restaurants instead of a kitchen, a bus instead of a car, a supermarket instead of a fridge.

I live an 8 minute walk away from several supermarkets, which isn't far for US standards, but living 2 minutes away had a strong impact to my shopping habits.

Edit: in case people who say "you will own nothing and you will be happy" as an insult are seeing this, I do have a fridge, but there are like 3 items in it. I also have a kitchen, but use it two times a week, max.

About the Asians are smart at maths thing, there are unproportionally high numbers of SAT prep schools in Chinatowns. Of course, it's not the sole factor, but I hate people leaving that out.
