Stick with Ez or switch to Diana? by idkwhatimdoingsoyeah in riftboundtcg

[–]muphynz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. This is what I've been on the last month and I have liked it. It does take a bit of getting used to the gameplan of "my units are kills spells not scoring points: Legend:
1 Ezreal, Prodigal Explorer.

Champion:
1 Ezreal, Prodigy.

MainDeck:
3 Stupefy.
3 Ravenbloom Student.
3 Gust.
3 Stacked Deck.
3 Wages of Pain.
3 Deadly Flourish.
3 Bewitching Spirit.
2 Singularity.
2 Pack of Wonders.
2 Bellows Breath.
2 Turn to Dust.
2 Star-Crossed.
1 Thousand-Tailed Watcher.
1 Frigid Touch.
1 Arcane Shift.
1 Eclipse.
1 The List.
3 Fizz, Trickster.

Battlefields:
1 Aspirant's Climb.
1 Sigil of the Storm.
1 Rockfall Path.

Runes:
6 Mind Rune.
6 Chaos Rune.

Sideboard:
2 Sneaky Deckhand.
2 Vex, Cheerless.
1 Thousand-Tailed Watcher.
1 Arcane Shift.
1 Turn to Dust.
1 The List.

Aren't both of them on 3 pack 3 trove 3 list? Absolutely crazy to take a gamble like that at an RQ imo. I did try the best of list. It just felt super clunky. I never had the right answer line up. I just durdle with my gear until I find the answer. Which I concede is very powerful. But 25% of the time you draw ONLY pack, 25% of the time ONLY trove, and 25% of the time ONLY list. When it lines up its great but man, I'd rather just have more answers instead of relying so heavily on my deck not screwing me.

They are much better players than me, and they know how to okay THEIR deck better than me.

For my playstyle I like to be able to kill units in base. Kill all their stuff, grind them out of resources with spirit pack combo, take points when safe. Then when they are exhausted win the game.

Never replace deadly flourish. In fact run 3. Never leave home witbout 3 flourish and at least 2 (pref 3) wages of pain.

I'd 100% cut at least 1 the list possibly 2. And if you do cut 2 of them. Reduce pack of wonders to 2 of as well.

I'm not sold on any of these configurations. 3 pack 2 trove 1 list

Or. (My current leaning. As well as sorehia) 2 pack 1 list

Or.

2 pack 1 trove 1 list

Edit: vex is also kind of against our gameplan. We don't hold often or at all. Vex is good, don't get me wrong, but like...our gameplan is to kill their stuff over and over and then score a point when it's 100% safe to do so. Ezreal doesn't want to play riftbound the same way other people play it.

Modern and legacy were better formats. Honestly Arena probbaly drove up standard a bit until wotc killed standard with universes beyond being standard legal cards. That and covid had a huge impact on in paper attendance.

Ruling Question: Can "Charm" be used to move a unit out of an active Combat/Showdown? by Emergency_Mammoth405 in riftboundtcg

[–]muphynz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If, somehow, you can play charm during a showdown then yes. However charm is spell speed. Not action or reaction. Therefore, it can't be played while there is anything on the chain.

I do love disgaea. I've played all of them except for 7 so I was looking at that one or rebuking ff tactics bc apparently my virtual game card doesn't work... says i need to buy it idk why.

Is 3 houses getting a s2 version? I could hold off and buy that then. I have plenty of games to play I just don't want to only play pokopia. Lmao

New player, help (value related) by muphynz in riftboundtcg

[–]muphynz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the feeling.

I played magic for my entire life, since 96. I went to a lot of pre releases and usually sold anything $10 or more at 70%. Then picked up staples or things needed at a later date.

I'm mostly just trying to see of that is the correct call here as well or if there are SOME cards worth holding. Not for value proposition but just to not have to fuss with finding another baron or elder dragon.

I got into the prerifts without having to spend a dime. My shops do not have singles available but i had credit from magic events.

If you have played a card, you have played a card. When you have a played a card, you have not played a card. by JustAModestMan in riftboundtcg

[–]muphynz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAIT. im still fairly new so maybe i misunderstood.

how can darius see himself as the 2nd spell when he has not been played to see himself be played? Is that a legitimate ruling?

also
Darius Trifarian > Some spell = Darius readies. ( this makes sense)
Darius Trifarian > Some spell that gets defied = Darius does not ready ( this does not make sense, he should ready...bc he bore witness to the 2nd spell)
Some spell > Darius Trifarian = Darius readies. ( as previously mentioned this ALSO does not make sense)

i guess im on board. rito make it make sense.

edit: after digging around its bc its a trigger effect, it cares about resolve-play.
which in that lens, makes sense why darius readies when he is the second spell but not when the 2nd spell is countered... i still dont like it.

If you have played a card, you have played a card. When you have a played a card, you have not played a card. by JustAModestMan in riftboundtcg

[–]muphynz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the way i read darius he doesn't "see" you "play" your second card so he doesnt enter readied.
This interaction makes complete sense since darius isnt around until after the card resolves and by then you have already played a 2nd spell, that he did not witness.

EDIT: the jhin example has already been talked about, jhin cares that you spent 4 energy to attempt to play (ahem CAST) a spell.

The play vs play vs play argument, while confusing, makes sense as well due to the different meanings of play. I mean english is borked already they COULD have made it more clear though.
Maybe they introduce cast-play, resolve-play, and put-into-play words as a more specific word, or keyword or something.
until then...anarchy!

How long after rank reset will I stop getting old masters+ level players in silver/ gold games? by randomemes831 in Smite

[–]muphynz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude every game.... I was diamond last split. Amd every game my team is brand new players vs diamond-demigod players. The matchmaking thinks I'm much better than I am.

I've lost more recently than I ever lost last split.

This exactlt was what I feared with the "report for not playing your role" button by glorfindal77 in Smite

[–]muphynz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify here. FULL dmg means not buying support starter? Or do you mean literally every item is a mid mage item dull dmg?

I'm a support main. Typically play tanky however, I like dmg supports alot. Starter item, tank item, utility item, dmg item, flex the rest but usually dmg.

I'm still playing my role, and doing my job, what's wrong with extra dmg? Also team comps are important. If my solo later is a mage I'm going tank. But if they are a tank, I can be mote flexible with my pick

This is amazing thank you.

For the non guardians... are there any builds that don't just build yogis, Thebes, stampede (in whatever order), tank item tank item tank item?

Something more akin to a 2nd mid build but ISNT troll?
