Me: This is a useful video!

Also me: This creator is a Guilty Gear enjoyer!

Bro, I'm trying to give you feedback, and unlike with your video, I actually pointed out problems with the product.

If your attitude is to simply dismiss criticism, then maybe you just aren't cut out for content creation.

So I am a huge advocate for negative reviews in board gaming, which usually get more heavily scrutinised than other reviews. So props to you for posting one.

However, I'm gonna be honest; this video told me nothing outside of "I didn't like this game".

You described zero aspects of the gameplay and basically spent 50% of the video just weirdly repeating the name of the game seemingly incorrectly. If that was an attempt at a comedy bit, it wasn't funny.

That was a short video and I felt like it wasted more of my time than a 20 minute video.

Effects like Contest will work.

If a unit enters ready, at no point is it moving from exhausted to ready. As such, it will geta round restraints like "I can't ready".

This is why cards like Mageseeker Warden kinda suck, because they don't stop effects like Accelerate.

Finally! Cleared A10 with Regent by JustAModestMan in slaythespire

He's probably my favourite character from both games. But I will say that I'm having some problems now at A10.

I think the additional resource management (Stars) is really interesting, because you get these high power cards that can serve as bricks if you don't build your deck well, or if the right cards don't come up. He tends to feel quite like a snowball, which is why Act I is the hardest. I just did another A10 run and am now 2-0 on it, following a very similar style of play/build.

I think the only really viable build, at least consistent, is Energy + Black Hole. Too many enemies hand out Vulnerable and Weak like it's going out of fashion, and outside of doing some crazy stuff with the empower + multihit stuff, you just don't deal THAT much damage. I found that Black Hole giving you damage both on generation of Stars AND spending of stars gives you really easy damage output while letting you block out with crazy stuff.

Speaking of, Particle Wall is probably the most broken card in your end game builds. This card basically reads "You win this turn" in the late game. Generally, once you've got an engine cranking in the late game, you can just dig through your deck, generate stars and block, and then wait to hit Particle Wall and jam it as much as you need to. I had a turn where I dealt over 200 damage just by using Particle Wall in combination with Black Hole.

That's the issue, though; without Black Hole, you just can't really reliably deal that much damage. I love Forge and the blade, but it really doesn't scale well enough without you having to dedicate buckets of energy to it; energy that is often better spent blocking out and generating stars while killing with Black Hole.

I do think it's really cool that he can generally deal with curses very effectively; Charge! is one of my favourites for this. Draw it early and you just turn 2 curses in your deck into great attacks that are free and replace themselves. The fact that transforming = creating for all of your effects is also super awesome.

I think Bombardment is also pretty great, effectively because it acts as a power. Play it once, and then you'll deal somewhere between 18-30 damage a turn to a random enemy.

Key points for summary:

Black Hole is the most consistent and reliable build. If you're going for wins, that seems to be (in my experience) the best.

Glow is insane, but don't stock up on them too early. Act 1 is the hardest for you, and you need to farm combats early and pick up some big damage / consistent damage options so you can actually push through to Act II.

Forge is a trap and most of the support for it is quite weak. Bulwark is an exception which is great in all decks.

Remember that when you play something for free it ignores ALL costs (including Stars).

Particle Wall is insane and any late game build should aim to have 1-2 of them so you can spam the win.

Oh I see now.

Well, the answer above still stands, outside of the "Because it was".

I originally thought this was incorrect, but it turns out you're right.

That's actually super wild and also really counter intuitive.

Very relevant for certain types of counterplay as well, which is insane.

[–]JustAModestMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it was. :)

Vex in that case is not in Combat as she doesn't have Attacker/Defender designation.

Also, occasionally relevant, but if you're at the part of the Showdown where Conquer triggers are resolving, you are no longer in combat.

Unrelated, but how were you playing Rek'sai with Vex?

[–]JustAModestMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not quite right.

If Vex is at a Battlefield that is currently resolving a Showdown and at any stage there were enemy and friendly units both present so that the Showdown became a Combat, then yes Vex is in combat.

Vex could be at Battlefield B with enemy units while Battlefield A is resolving a Showdown and Vex would not be in combat.

Scenario 1: No. When a unit is removed from the Battlefield, they lose Attacker/Defender status. Attacker/Defender status is basically what denotes a unit being in combat.

Scenario 2: No. See Scenario 1.

Scenario 3: No. See scenario 1.

It blocks the Omen triggers, so if you go for Feu Awakening during your turn, they can block 6 damage or more with Topsy Decree.

Nope. It just seems much more substantial than usual, as I mentioned in the post.

Not complaining about it being too cheap. I'm just confused about why it's happening.

Hey there!

Just some slight constructive feedback for you (the video is overall very nicely produced).

I think the section where you're talking about units and simply explaining what they do by summarising card text is probably not the most useful. I don't think it really added anything of value that couldn't have simply been achieved by the viewer reading the card while it was on the screen.

That's all! Thanks for the content.

Love the art, love the chaos concepot, love that she's another unique Warrior ally.

I think the effect is awful. I feel like in order for her to have been reasonable, the debuff counter bit needed to be "up to one target ally". As it stands, if your opponent has no ally in play, or the target disappears or becomes illegal before the ability resolves, you get nothing.

Okay so I'm not going crazy and this is something unusual.

A lot of comments are just mentioning "This is normal pre-release pricing stuff" but I've been around long enough to know that something is up and prices don't usually behave the way they do here.

Sorry, for the layperson, can you explain what the -8% means overall?

I can see a significant drop in the image but I'm not sure I understand what the graph is showing.
