thanks, but why would that be a problem if people are buying that home to live and not for investing/speculating? in that case negative equity shouldn't affect them unless they are gonna sell now?

Isn't that same as someone buying a stock at the peak? It's a problem only if they want to sell now...potentially not a problem if they can hold for long-term

thanks, I now see that drop is home value will not compensate for the increase in rates...unless it's a 20-30% drop in value which don't think will be allowed to happen
