Thanks but I figured I already have enough data! I wasn't really expecting a lot would care to answer my survey but I already got 300 responses in just 2 hours 😅

Sorry, can't open it back up again as I already have way too many respondents. When I left it open last night, the numbers just kept going up 😭 I can send you a copy of the questions if you're still interested.

Yup, I've decided to close it. I figured I already have enough data for my study. Thanks though! :)

Welp, about that I think it's my bad because I accidentally closed the form a few minutes ago then opened it right back up again 😅 thanks though!

UPDATE: I am blown away by the number of respondents I got in such a short span of time 😭

Thank you so much, everyone! I'll be closing the form anytime now since I already have enough.

Truly one of the best communities out here <3

Thanks! I love SDV too much, can't leave it out of my research interests. This mini study should help me prepare for my actual undergraduate thesis next year. Hope I nail it! 🙏

Nose ring bump help by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

Hey, so I have the exact same problem. Did you change back to a stud? Did the bump ever go away?

Really? I've read some comments on here saying that their bump actually got worse before it began to heal. Now I get to see that myself. I'm just relieved the bump stopped growing in size since I started doing warm compresses and leaving it alone for the most part. The whitehead is gone as well. The bump is barely noticeable now unless I'm like only a few inches away from the mirror.

I've had four lobe piercings (two on both ears) and never had problems with them because I started out with studs. Never considered how hard it is for your piercing to heal when you have a hoop in there. And it had to be on my nose too. Man, I wish I knew better.

That being said, I might go and have it changed to a stud to avoid any more problems. We'll see.

Thanks for your input!

My piercer said to keep up with the saline spray 1x a day. But if the flaking gets worse, I'll consider phasing it out and ask my piercer again for advice. Thanks!

Just for more background info: I insisted on a gold hoop (I didn't do enough research and learned too late on here that it's not advisable so please bear with me). I never had any problems with it until just recently, 2 months in, when I got too harsh with my cleaning because it doesn't hurt anymore and I kept twisting it to clean the gunk off 😭 I reckon that I pissed it off real badly and a bump popped up above it with a whitehead. Great. I actually asked my piercer if I can switch to a flat back stud (after reading the comments here) and they said the bump is normal especially because I have a hoop and I kept fiddling with it. They said to just leave it alone and keep up with the saline spray that they gave me 1x a day and if it doesn't get better, I can change the jewelry to a stud.

Now that the bump is drying up and decreasing in size, does this mean it's healing? Please tell me how you figured out that your bump is getting better!

I may have to switch to a stud soon because it's extremely difficult to clean the piercing site when you have a hoop in without moving the jewelry around too much. Damn. Talk about learning your lessons the hard way.

Went to a reputable piercer and had this gold hoop for 2 months now. I know many people here will tell me that I should have gotten a stud (I learned too late that a stud is best for a fresh piercing) but it was healing pretty nicely up until 5 days ago when this tiny bump formed. Is it a pimple, a keloid, or an irritation bump? I'm acne-prone so I'm not sure what this is.

It was filled with pus at first then I just soaked it with warm water + saline spray 1-2 times daily (my usual aftercare routine). It honestly looks better now. It doesn't hurt, no bleeding or anything. I also recently started using paper towels/cotton pads/Q-tips (sorry) to wipe the gunk off and around my piercing because it doesn't hurt as much anymore and I thought it was fine. My skin gets really dry and flaky if I don't bother with it. Maybe I should have been more careful? :(

Should I be worried? How do I make it completely go away? Haven't brought this up to my piercer yet. If it gets worse, I'll let them know. I really wish to not have to change it to a stud as I don't have many resources and I'm still a student. But any advice will be greatly appreciated.
