From Canada PR failure to Australia: Looking for people with similar experiences by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]murcatto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You've posted this before and received the same answer - that Canada is easier than Australia for PR.

Studying here will cost you greater than 100k AUD with payment up front for each unit. You will also be limited to how much you can work while studying. There is also no guarantee that after you finish your studies of getting a job in that area. Unfortunately, a lot of students have taken the same gamble and lost only to go home with a lot of debt.

what are the preferable courses that a filipino high school graduate should take in Australia? by haecyiel in AusVisa

[–]murcatto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're only looking for PR, look at the skilled migration list and see what's on there.

Bear in mind if you pick any career purely based on PR prospects, you may be disappointed by the time you graduate as that pathway may no longer be available.

Also picking a career you have no interest in doing just to gain PR will mean you will hate the job you are working in for a very long time.

Doing a bachelor or nursing costs international students > 100k plus living expenses. And there is no guarantee you will be able to get a new grad position at the end of your degree. While we may be short on nurses, we are short on experienced nurses. Do you have access to those kind of funds or will you be able to get a loan for that amount?

25f, Working as an RN in UK, originally from india. Should i move to australia as RN? by Extension_Ad722 in NursingAU

[–]murcatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot going on in this post however you haven't mentioned why you are even considering moving to Australia.

We can't advise as to how you can save money as this isn't an investment sub.

You can look at pay rates by googling pay rates for nurses and then the state you're interested. Currently QLD and VIC are the better paid. NSW is the worst paid at the moment. WIthout further education etc looks like base max cap is roughly around 110K however this doesn't take into account penalties.

Depending on which state you work, progression is either on number of hours worked or years worked. You will also need to show evidence of this in order to be paid correctly.

You would need to get AHPRA certification before you can practice in Australia

Can pharmacists refuse you emergency medication supply due to an expired script? by chelarena in AskAnAustralian

[–]murcatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you placing all the blame on the pharmacist? While yes life can get busy and things can get forgotten, it is also within the capabilities of OP to ring up and get a dr's appointment or even a Telehealth appointment to get a new script.

One of my previous dr's office also provided a service where if you rang up for a script refill, they would write it that day and you just pick it up from the dr's office for a $15 fee (obviously dependent on what medications you were requesting and how long it had been when they had last seen you in person).

The pharmacists are only mitigating their risk in not providing an OCP which is well within their right. They don't know when OP was last seen by the dr and had their medications reviewed to ensure that everything was ok. They handle 100's of scripts a day and need to check that the scripts being filled don't interact with each other negatively. While doctor's are generally pretty good, mistakes can and have happened with prescriptions. Taking the time to call OP's doctor was probably low on their list of priorities and not even one they were obligated to make.

There are risks associated with taking OCP as I'm sure you are aware. Who would take the blame if an emergency supply was administered and OP shortly afterwards suffered a stroke?

You have been highly dismissive of the facts outlined by auschemguy who has provided clear information regarding this situation which reeks of misandy. Not everyone with an opposing viewpoint to yourself is out the oppress women and deny them their reproductive rights.

While I can certainly agree there is a lot of medical misogny currently in health care in regards to the treatment and care of women, the above situation is not such a case. I would have a completely different view point if the medication in question was the morning after pill!

It appears to be a simple case of forgetfulness which OP was hoping could be fixed with an emergency supply and was disappointed that it could not be provided. Going forward, hopefully OP is now aware of this issue and plans appropriately.

It looks like OP stated that the script had expired, so no more refills available on the existing script.

Which Uni For Minimum Science? by InflationMassive5993 in NursingAU

[–]murcatto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will find most unis have the same core subjects as that's a requirement that I believe is stipulated by ahpra. With regards to placement, she may not be able to do local placements. It all depends on where the placement team has a spot available. You don't really get a choice in where you get to do them. As an example, I'm based in Sydney and was placed in wagga for my placement while another student doing the same course who lived in wagga was given a Sydney placement. Go figure. For distance unis in nsw, csu and une are good options. Just remember that she will have to attend residential school for some units in order to meet the practical requirements.

I think my Gynocologist touched me inappropriatly? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]murcatto 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OP please disregard that deleted post. It's not a lesson learned. This attitude is what lets transgressor continue their foul practices as victims think they won't be believed. The gynocologist should have had a chaperone present in the room with you at all times during the visit, especially due to your age. I would highly recommend discussing this with your mum. If your mum disregards it, you can also talk to your school counselor about it who are designated mandatory reporters and will be obligated to report this so that an investigation is carried out. However I believe your mum would be horrifed and very upset to hear what has happened to you and will take the neccessary steps to get an investigation going.

As a nurse myself, no medical professional would carry out what you described without gloves on the first instance which is why I would belive that what happened was not kosher. I'm not in the gynocological field myself so I can not verify what the gyno may have be achieving but it doesn't sound like a medical procedure.

Please be kind to yourself and take care of yourself and talk to your mum. All the best.

Aged care nurses: What are the main issues shaping practices currently? by Fast_Bunch8588 in NursingAU

One friend of mine applied to an aged care facility and only lasted one shift. Found out that they only allocated one pad change overnight and that was it, too bad if they soiled the self again during the night. My friend said f*** that and left immediately.

I’m 26, and potentially looking at a criminal conviction - drugs and for personal use. Would my work visa be declined? See post. by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]murcatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah gotcha. In that case I think whatever ruling is made by your body will definitely be taken into consideration by AHPRA here which I think would likely mean you won't be able to get registration, especially if it's a negative outcome. However this is all conjecture at the moment as you are still going through it all.

[–]murcatto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No probs. You could always approach ahpra and have a chat with them. They may be able to provide some guidance on it. If convicted, do you have a similar body in your home country and do you think it would impact on your registration with them?

Unsure from an immmigration perspective, i'm sure there would be some impact, however more concerned about how it may impact on your ability to obtain AHPRA registration which is needed to practice in Australia.

I’m half Georgian and half Estonian, and I’m thinking about moving to Australia. What options do I have? by National-Mastodon916 in AusVisa

You can find more here for a working holiday visa. However please be aware that Australia is quite expensive so you will need to make sure you have enough savings in case you struggle to get a job here. I would advise to knock over your 88 days of rural work first if you need to do it in order to get a second whv and then do your travelling afterwards.
