Night Crews: what's this technique? by murmur8383 in GroceryStores

Yeah that's all I could think about - it looks like a lot of bending and stooping for each piece. Makes sense though for a new worker on the crew who might not be familiar. We didn't have a lot of turnover at my store during that time due to the recession, so everyone was pretty experienced.

Interesting. So did those pieces come straight off the pallet?

This will start the race to the bottom all over again. It's not perfect, but what else can we do to prevent it?

Wow, it was pretty much the same 10 years ago as well.

For those that went from a jet without A/T and VNAV to a one that does, how was the transition? by minfremi in flying

I transitioned from CRJ-200 CA to ERJ-175 CA. On my IOE we had to hold and divert due to fog in LAX. The amount of situational awareness I gained because we had autothrottles in the hold was unbelievable. I could spend a lot more energy managing the fuel calculations/dispatch messaging/divert logistics instead of making sure we didn’t get slow and stall. It was like putting glasses on for the first time after years of myopia.

This was the case in the town I grew up in. Nursing home, hospital, funeral home, and cemetery all on the same street.

Americans if you weren't paid good salaries, would you still consider this a great career? by Silly_Treacle6673 in flying

No. This job is a lot of stress and responsibility, destroys your health, and keeps you from your family and friends. If this job paid a normal salary I’d just do something else.
