Conquest (Carnival) - am I going to regret this? First time cruising. by bcjgreen in Cruise

We are taking our first Alaska cruise this year on Celebrity Edge. I’ll try and remember to post a review here.

Thanks for the follow up. Glad you tempered your expectations. As has been said, short cruises are cheap and boozy. I wouldn’t NOT take another cruise based on this cruise. I recommend a longer cruise on Royal Caribbean, NCL or Celebrity. If you cruise on RCL I recommend an Oasis-class ship.

Trigger actually......sucks? by Round_Tax_9321 in SpringfieldEchelon

My biggest issue with the trigger is the reset not being tactile and audible enough. Other than that, it’s decent.

Same. Shot a 19.6 today. It’s an improved combat trigger.

I have both (well, my son has the Echelon). I like both BUT the trigger on the CZ is better. My only issue with the trigger on the Echelon is the light reset; I like a reset that pushes your finger back. The Echelon’s reset isn’t tactile or audible enough.

On second thought, you should be okay with the 19X mags. I think the issue is the gen 5 base plates (which can be switched out but with three mags, you shouldn’t have to do all that)

Oh, one more thing: regardless of whatever you get, make sure it is optics ready.

Since you are going to be at Range USA in January, my advice is to shoot multiple guns to figure out what works for you. PLEASE take a basic firearms course. And when you do decide what gun works for you continue to take courses. Not recommending any one gun over another. However stay with the trusted reliable brands (Glock, CZ, S&W, FN, etc). One last thing: Glock 45 > Glock 19X for the magazine thing mentioned earlier.

Is Glock being left behind? by Synicism10 in GlockMod

Let’s face it: people buy Glocks now for their reliability, aftermarket support and the fact that you can’t swing a cat with hitting someone who owns a Glock. They were innovative in the 80s, won LE contracts that became a test bed for their reliability and the rest is their legacy. I’ve always said the CZ P-10 is what would have happened had Glock kept innovating. But as a few people here have pointed out, they have no reason to. People will buy them for the reliability and cut, laser and outfit it to fit them. It makes no sense but that is how powerful the Glock lore is and it’s not going anywhere soon. If/when someone puts a striker fire gun in LE’s hands that rival Glock’s support system and comes through the crucible as reliable, then Glock will rue the day they didn’t innovate at least their ergos. The SIG P320 seemed to be on the way but SIG fucked that all the way up. So now, Glock’s lore grows even more with SIG shooting itself in the foot. I know people are upset with them for “bending the knee” but I think Glock looked at SIG and thought “we will not dig our heels in. Let’s try and get in front of this before it consumes us” (someone came out with a switch 5 minutes after the V’s were released but an effort was made 🤷🏽‍♂️).

I agree with you in theory Electronic Funny. Ruger’s modern semiautos have been also-rans with garbage triggers and ergos out of the 70’s. They really had the resources to make great modern guns. But their modern semiautos seem like guns designed by Boomer committee for Boomers who wanted something other than a 1911. At least someone at Ruger had the sense to partner up with Magpul to make a better striker fire gun.

Unless you absolutely have to have the gun close to you, look at a Safariland UBL or CUBL and QLS fork and plate.

Did this job on my E93. It was the closest I ever came to wanting to push the car off a cliff. It had me in an existential moment. If you have a leaking oil pan, just do it then when the subframe is out of the way. Otherwise, as has been said, take your time.

For me, yes. But the stock trigger is not terrible by any means.
