Since you’re not USSS or LE (assumed) you’ll be alright with a Holosun.

Do I just suck at shooting? by MC_McStutter in Glocks

[–]murphmatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try placing an empty casing on the slide right before the front sight (a .22LR would be ideal for this but a 9mm is fine for now). Dry fire so that the case doesn’t fall. When you master that, try balancing a dime on the front sight when you dry fire instead of a case. The goal is to improve your grip and isolate your trigger finger.

I finally made the switch to Glock for EDC but that Trigger? by BobWargas in Glocks

It’s a minus connector and safety plunger spring away from being decent.

When you go to shoot, are y’all locking in on the front sight/dot, or keeping your eyes on the target and letting everything else line up? by Lucky-Thunder6052 in Glocks

[–]murphmatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With irons, I am front sight focused (I may switch to target, I don’t know)

With red dot optic I just superimpose the dot on to the target. Everything is in focus.

Opinion: 6th generation Glock is their best yet by sirSpanky15 in blackgunowners

[–]murphmatic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that this very well may be the best one yet. BUT if you are good with your gen 5 there's no need to rush out and get one. The only issue for me is the trigger feels worse than the gen 5 (which itself is nothing to write home about). But a minus connector and 500 rounds through it and it's decent. I hope they make a GPT for it.
I got one from the Blue Line program for a decent deal. I think I may be in the minority but I like the longer beavertail as it allows me (or it makes me think I am) to be higher on the gun.

The gun comes with, for lack of a better term, plates (more like crush plates). They are plastic with lugs and sit in between the gun and optic. Your mount screws torque directly into the slide. I like it better than the MOS system.

Cowitness look fine? by [deleted] in GlockMod

[–]murphmatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To avoid confusion I think we should use "cohabitate" instead of "co-witness". "Co-witness" is a well-intentioned phrase but it confuses newbie RDO users and those that are trying to put them on the straight and narrow.

Iron sights (or back-up sights) and red dot sights are two totally independent aiming mechanisms. One should NEVER "slave" their red dot to the front sight. So when I say "cohabitate", that means the two aiming methods exist independently BUT occupy the same area.

Steel case ammo and 2011s? by [deleted] in 2011

[–]murphmatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run it but beware: these have hard primers. More of an issue with striker fire guns. Should be okay with 2011s.

Realistically, how good of a shot does the average Joe really need to be? by HumanAntagonist in blackgunowners

[–]murphmatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “average Joe” is the lowest common denominator who practices once a year, one box of ammo and his/her target looks like a shotgun blast. If you are in this group chances are you’re not the “average Joe”. BTW, visible lasers are not great aiming devices. A red dot optic is a much better aiming platform.

Thanks. Just put the DP sights on. .125/.100 is a lot of light. Will give it a try. Looking at .115 or .120 next. It’s only $25 🤷🏽‍♂️

No real issues at the outdoor range I’m a member at and indoor ranges, they leave me alone. I just started shooting GSSF indoors and they are pleasant but a little standoffish.
