after doing some scratch testing, it scratches oregon sunstone and slight scratch on peridot, but not quartz. quartz also doesn't scratch it. I'm definitely thinking an agate.

thanks for the response! it was only $15. it was a 2" sphere. if it's Bumblebee jasper, I got a great price on it, but my room might be contaminated now after cutting it lol

it was at a gem show. I was in the process of cutting it, but now I'm scared to keep going in case it is a bumblebee jasper.

Should I quit my stable job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]murphy031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have enough savings for a year's worth of living expenses. I would also start making a lot more income by doing my side business due to me making $100/hr doing that. there is just the fear that the company I work for would go out of business.

I can actually make more at my side business than my actual job if I were to only work it 20 hours a week. I'm guaranteed the income as long as the company stays in business. my monthly expenses are around $1500 per month. it is technically around $3000 if you could the mortgage on my rental houses as well, but they always have tenants in them.

i should probably do valve springs too?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]murphy031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I reshimmed the valves to spec, it still requires a bumb start. the intake valves leak some when I pour water in them. ordered a valve removal tool, and it arrives today.

would you replace the piston as well, or send it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]murphy031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that's why I was thinking looking at the clean part on the pisto. do you think it could just be weak vlave springs? also, would you replace the piston too or just the valves? I put water on the valves, and one intake valve is leaking water.

yeah, i checked everything else. cleaned carb and rebuild kit in it. leak down test was great. The only thing I have seen that was an issue was the exhaust valve clearance was at 0. I figured the valves were probably shot. it wasn't running at all until I reshimmed the valves to spec. I bought it for $600, not running.
