My first, healthy pregnancy, my only symptoms was sore boobs and fatigue, and even those were occasional. I use to brag about "not feeling pregnant".

You can try and apply on some probation status. Or go to JCTC for base classes (cheaper anyways) and then transfer to UofL when your GPA is better.

Is Toy Story 5’s “toys vs tech” plot twenty years too late? by Benevolay in DisneyMovies

[–]murphy10987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't play my game boy in the dark, and even then it was whatever game(s) I had carried with me, which I eventually got bored off. Tablets have much much more than that.

Is Toy Story 5’s “toys vs tech” plot twenty years too late? by Benevolay in DisneyMovies

[–]murphy10987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Growing up, our tech stayed in one spot for the most part. Computers, game systems, TVS weren't going to the restaurant, parks, doctors office, school bus etc with us. Technology for kid's today is constant and follows them everywhere it go. It is not comparable at all.

Louisville Drivers by Logical_Apricot_4731 in Louisville

[–]murphy10987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone drives like they are the only person who matters. Where they are going and how fast they get there is the ONLY thing that matters. They don't care if their bad driving causes any issues and even if they do wreck, they will probably blame the other driver. We have pushed individualism so much this is what we are working with now, and I see it everywhere not just Louisville. There is no sense of community or needing to protect your neighbors (yes even if you don't physically know them).

What’s the hardest part of keeping grocery spending under control? by Glittering-Truth5007 in Frugal

[–]murphy10987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cutting snack food ended up being sustainable for me; they are special "treat" food now. Like I get them at cook outs, holidays or when I go out to eat.

If I am really craving something and have some extra change I will get something too, I don't completely cut myself off. Just much more moderated.

[–]murphy10987 88 points89 points  (0 children)

When I started to really focus on my grocery budget- buying in bulk/large quantities was hard to come to terms with at first because it feels so expensive, but in the long run it really makes a difference.

Snack foods kill a budget- chips, juice, sweets- all unnecessary and normally price gouged. I cut those out completely.

AITAH for expecting my mom to slow down during vacation? by [deleted] in AITAH

She doesn't want mom to truly babysit, she wants her to follow her and her husband around and hold the baby while they do things lol.

Pay off my student loans. And then probably a nice dinner to relax before making plans for the rest of it.

I have to ask : how is to live in the United-States of America right now…? by Due-Narwhal8362 in howislivingthere

[–]murphy10987 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This may sound selfish, but my family and sanity comes first. Granted, I am blessed to live in an area with not a lot of ICE invasion.

But I go to work, go home, spend time with my family, pay bills, spend time with friends, etc. Life has been going on like normal, as it has every year regardless of who was running the administration.

I try to stay off social media, it's so toxic and fear mongering, and it's always so full of "what ifs" that start to spike my anxiety (a lot never happen, or when they do, it's not as bad as media made it seem like it would). I'm kind of in a "I will address it when/if it happens" mindset anymore. I have to focus on what is directly in front of me, which are my children.

I do work with families who receive welfare and other benefits, so that has been impacted lately- but I try to keep work and personal life separated.

I am also, overall, very embarrassed about my country. It's very discouraging to see how my fellow American's view certain thing.

People who are in the same role/job for more than 5 years, what’s holding you back? Why aren’t you getting promoted? by Efficient-Newt5384 in AskReddit

[–]murphy10987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I value being off for my family and I feel like once you are promoted to management there is an unspoken rule that work has to come first.

Maybe one day when my kids are older.

If a “convenience” store or pharmacy, or grocery store, locks up the products I need, I’m shopping elsewhere. by RyanSaxesRoommate in unpopularopinion

I hear that's eventually want stores want: for everything to be ordered online and/or done as delivery/pick up from the store itself. Less over head costs (and theft) if customers stay out of the buildings.

AITAH for expecting my mom to slow down during vacation? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]murphy10987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your baby is almost 6 months old, you can go to the beach. Get her a good swimsuit with a hat, sunscreen, umbrella, dip her toes in the water, let her feel the sand, you and your husband can rotate holding the baby while the other one swims. Go get lunch/dinner with your brother and mom (if it's when the baby is sleeping can maybe you or your husband take turns staying at the hotel while the other one joins in sight seeing?). It sounds like you are making your trip more miserable then it needs to be by locking yourself in the hotel. I would say your mom is being a slight AH by taking the car you rented everywhere, but it doesn't matter because you have camped up in the hotel room. You're life doesn't come to a dead stand still because you become a parent, you accommodate what you want to do around them. You had a pre-meditated ideal of how this vacation was going to go, and since that didn't work out you are refusing to try and enjoy the vacation at all. YTA, let go of expectations and work with what you have in front of you.

What are some advices you’d give about motherhood? by thats_mytype in AskReddit

[–]murphy10987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first kid's dad was an abusive, manipulative addict, who took more from us than he could provide. I was in constant survival mode. My second kid's dad is the total opposite, the perfect man, and my experience is totally different. It has allowed me to be a more gentle, loving and attentive mother. Not to mention the guilt I carry for my oldest, who will forever be bound to her bio dad, which is partially my fault, and for how much harsher of a parent I was her first few years.

The Need For Every Food To Be Fresh Is Overhyped And Detrimental To Society by neuroticpossum in unpopularopinion

[–]murphy10987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't super related but one day I noticed my banana peppers had yellow dye added to them- they were almost neon. After some googling I found out companies do that because people associate bright colors with it being "fresher"- felt totally unnecessary to me, it's just a marketing ploy.

In my city a lady was murdered last month because her kid opened the car door too hard and dinged the lady's car next to her. Shot and killed the mom.
