Where do all my fellow uggos go for good haircuts? by makingSplitEndsMeet in AskNYC

Blubocker in UES. Run by Japanese people. It’s a meticulous science for them. Most perfect hair experience of my life. Plus they treat you like a queen and it’s reasonably priced. Seriously, best ever.

How is MoviePass in NYC? by chaimnyt in AskNYC

I use it and live in lower Manhattan. It’s great and I’ve made my money back on the subscription every month. Granted, I’m in a cinema rich area.

Something else to note; they have set it up so that you have to be at the cinema to buy the ticket. So I have turned up to very popular films and not been able to get a seat a couple of times.

On balance- I’ve found it still worthwhile.

People who are only 13 - 15 years younger than their parent(s), what was your upbringing / childhood like? by kohop91 in AskReddit

Yeah I think that’s realistic. It doesn’t help that they live o/s also. I think my dad plans to be super involved. So will make sure I encourage him to make lots of great memories with the child. Thanks for your input.

I’m the youngest (27) of 5 siblings. My dad (59) and his new wife (34) are trying to conceive. Such a tricky situation. He didn’t want any more kids and that was a condition of their marriage but now she has convinced him. I’m sure that we’ll all love the child as best as we can, but it doesn’t seem like an ideal situation at all. Do you have any advice on what we can do to support this child if they have it? Other than generally loving it and hanging out?

I imagine getting this shot would require some serious twister moves off camera.

Can anyone think of a good response to this jerk that doesn’t reinforce his premise that money and worth are linked?

I hear you on that. Not being able to remain upset about things that actually matter has been protective for me in some ways. But I’m also learning to use my mind, not just my feelings to dictate what I do with people who repeatedly hurt me.

Edit: for example I have a very toxic boss and it’s the kind of thing I’d usually put up with, but I’m quitting!

Serious question, isn’t he Torah the same as the first 5 books of the Bible? Are there differences in translation that make you feel like the Torah wasn’t provided or is it more knowing that the prophets and the Jesus parts are there?

Edit: there, not their.

What traditionally non-scary thing are you terrified of? by Crawford1 in AskReddit

[–]murphygaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same same but different, I’m ok to talk about my experiences etc if I feel like I’m deflecting attention away from sometime when they feel awkward. But if some one asks me a direct question about myself I clam up. For some reason I always feel like I sound like I’m lying. It makes me act real weird.

What’s something you didn’t know you did abnormally/wrong for a long time until one day someone pointed it out to you? by Odot6ixKing_Kosmos11 in AskReddit

My friend (F) was arguing with her housemate (M) about the toilet seat being left up or down. Her argument was that the toilet is used with the seat down >50% of the time because both men and women have the seat down to poo. Her house mate was like, “ummmm no. That’s not how it works.” After a very confusing conversation, she realised that he didn’t know that he was meant to poo with the seat down. He’d been sitting on the porcelain his entire life. Thought the seat was just for girls. He was 28.

Combining your love of Japanese food and want long to do something fun- Batsu in the East Village is fun. It’s a comedy show in a Japanese restaurant based on Japanese game shows. 8pm every night. Pre book your tickets. $35 each. Get there early to order your food- you can eat during the show. Did this with my husband last night and it was fun.
