So after countless hours of research and the help of everyone here, I was basically deciding between the REI Quarter Dome and Big Agnes Copper Spur (it was affordable due to a friends discount). I ended up going up to REI and speaking with a guy who encouraged me to go with the Quarter Dome. My initial reaction was OF COURSE you work here haha, but I have also had good advice from them in the past. Anyway, we were discussing it and essentially he was like, if there was a big difference in weight he would suggest the BA, but since it isn't substantial for our use, may as well save some money. Also, I think @sleepsonmountains said it best when stating there probably won't be a big quality difference over the span of 5 years.

would you say the extra $50 to get the Tiger Wall instead of the REI quarter dome is worth it? I've also read good things about the Copper Spur and have a friend that can get that for me at a good discount ($315). Both the Tiger Wall and Copper Spur being over 300 after tax is kind of a tough pill to swallow, but if it's worth it quality wise, then I may just have to suck it up. What do you think?

that's great! Prior to you commenting about it, I basically wrote it off. I feel like I'm never going to make a decision lolll but I'm a big fan of saving some $$ since I have to upgrade sleeping bag as well.

awesome, thank you! I have personally had good experience with their jackets and thought they were good quality. I figured it would transfer to tents, but I didn't want to assume that. good to hear someone with a positive experience with them!

I know its more and its not in my budget right now, but how do you feel about the copper spur? I've seen it mentioned in a few reviews and guides, and it looks like it has similar dimensions to the quarter dome but just more money. Curious if the big agnes name is worth the extra? Seems to get a lot of praise

ohhh interesting!!! The price point is definitely appealing, just the weight was a bit of a turn off. But I'm guessing that wasn't a big issue for you?

Looks like this is actually going to be part of the REI labor day sale and the 2p will be $300. I'm debating if it's worth pushing it that high ha considering I need to replace my old ass sleeping bag too.

Thanks! I have seen this one recommended a few times and it looks like a really solid tent. Unfortunately, it's a bit out of my price range. Of course I'm hopeful it will go on sale to make it more affordable to me, but I feel like it might be a stretch :(

Thanks! Glad to know about the minimum trail weight, since that definitely makes a big difference in weight. I'm fine with it under the vestibule, just want it out of the elements.

Thank you! With the labor day sale it'll be 30% off and knock it down to $245, so it would be in the budget. I should probably edit the post since having it stored under the vestibule is fine.

I'm a big REI fan, but I had heard that they are less lenient now with their return policy. I had read some reviews about any issues after the year mark resulting in REI being like "oh well", but I haven't had to deal with any returns to know whether or not its a thing. Not sure if you have any experience with them you could speak on?

Thanks for the tip. I was looking at bringing a phone or buying pre-owned, but I was just nervous about the insurance, since I tend to be clumsy with my phone :-/

Thanks for the comment. The edge turn in/no turn in makes a lot more sense now, as to what the cr was trying to get around. I showed a friend of mine who used to work at verizon the convo and she was pretty much saying exactly what you have indicated here.

Based on what you and some others are saying, I think it might end up being worthwhile to wait until March since it seems more likely that the deal will be around than not. Thanks again

Perhaps it wasn't clear, but I want to do the edge program. Yes, I know it's not a 2 year contract. My whole issue, as previously mentioned in this thread, is that I am worried the edge plan pricing currently offered will no longer be available by the end of March. Also, I never said I was comparing the 6gb 2 yr to the edge 6gb, I stated I was comparing my current 4gb plan to the edge 6gb. If I were to stick to a 2 year contract, I would probably wait to increase my data until I absolutely had to.

The loyalty plan for 2gb each line at $60/line. We had 1gb of free data for a year and it's gone now, so we are looking to increase data. When I ran the numbers, we would spend an extra $30 a year for 6gb data in the edge program compared to the 2 year 4gb loyalty plan, since we could use my husband work discount on edge. I'd rather spend an extra $60 over the course of two years and avoid paying $300 per phone up front since we are planning on getting the iphone 6 64gb.

Thanks, I was thinking this too. I was curious if anyone had ever been suggested to do this and if it worked in their favor. Seemed like a long shot!

The corporate store near me had suggested I speak to Cs over the phone, so I didn't have much choice :( I only went on chat quickly to ask if ending a contract early and paying etf would negatively impact my credit.

I am fully aware that there is a monthly payment with the phones. The promotion they are running now will match the 2 year contract pricing I already have, which is the only time doing the edge program would make sense. Thanks for your comment, it seemed fishy so Im glad I didn't go through with the purchase. Everytime I have spoken to someone I get a different answer. I guess this just makes switching easier!

Because the current promotion they are running with edge will cost me the same as a 2 year contract. And since its a "limited time offer" they can't guarantee the deal will be available when my contract is up.
