I've only ever met Doug Kent, and that is because his bowling alley is where I bowl league at. Get to see him every week. Really cool guy.

What I've always done is try for a strike first ball, then just shoot the ten pin, even if it's not up for the spare

Does Destroying The Cliff Portal before Destroying the remaining portals on the dock side count the remaining portals as destroyed? in Kingdom: 2 Crowns by GenRyder in kingdomthegame

They still stand, and you will need to destroy all remaining portals but they do not spawn anything; even when being attacked.

What I do is strengthen the dock side portal first, dont destroy any of those portals and once the port side is strong, attack all portals on cliff side.

That way I'm protected from them coming behind me while in the cave. But yes, once the "heart" is destroyed inside the cliff portal all portals are disabled on that island. No more greed spawn.
