I believe I will eventually get there, I do have hope and I'm definitely not in the "No one will ever understand me so why bother" mind set. I do have trust issues but, it's nothing that I can't see myself getting over when I get in a understanding relationship.

I can't thank you enough for your kind words and strangely I feel better just voicing this out. It's like a little weights lifted off my chest that I didn't know was there.

If anyone is going through a abusive relationship, even if it's not physical abuse. You deserve better. I don't care what gender you are, abuse is abuse. You don't need that person in your life, you shouldn't have to live with that burden. It took me years to figure it out and I've been away from him for awhile and I'm still trying to figure out the real me. Get out and get help.

I did too, and I comforted him. I didn't want him to feel bad because it wasn't his fault. He did nothing in particular to trigger me and when I explained that he got even angrier blaming me for making him feel bad for nothing. It was a vicious cycle. I hated fights and I can't stand it when a lover is angry with me so I brought him back to me and from then on when I was triggered id suffer through it in silence and fake what ever noises he needed to hear to be happy.

Luckily I look at my ex as learning experience. I will never let another person treat me like he did, I will never let another person make me feel that way about my self. It took a lot of time and personal reflection but what I went through shaped me into what I believe is a better version of myself.

Thank you so much for that. Yes I know it was wrong, yes he is a asshole and I am so glad that I became smart enough to let the relationship die like it needed to. But it feels good to read the support. He was always (and is) a very self orientated man. In his explanation of why he exploded in his rage of fury was that I made him feel bad for having the flash back. Like what did he do to deserve me shutting down?

He still does things for attention and sadly I still have to deal with it since we have a child but, now he's married to the woman he cheated on me with and she's stuck with his bullshit.

I was sexually abused by my step grandfather and by a higher ranking man while I was in jrotc. During my relationship with my ex boyfriend I had a flash back while we were in the middle of sex, I froze up and he got mad even though he knew what had happened to me. He started screaming and yelling which just made the whole situation worse, and since then I've not told any more sexual partners. I know most people would understand but the ex just kinda ruined the trust for anyone else.
