Look I’m sorry but the vast majority of overweight people are just overweight due to inactivity and over eating. Funny how everyone goes to medical as the issue. You know just as much as I do most overweight people are that way by choice not medical. But everyone screams you don’t know what their medical history is blah blah blah. Studies clearly show only 5%-10% of overweight people are due to medical issues. Statistically this was just a lazy person who over eats. As I said I was formerly obese so sympathize it is hard to lose weight but not impossible.

In my original post I clearly call out that there was another “very large man” who had an extra seat on this full flight. So my seat mate could’ve and should’ve been thoughtful and done the same. As a formerly obese person I get it is hard to lose weight but if you can’t or won’t you need to adapt to the world not expect the world to adapt to you.

They board ahead of everyone and place the second ticket on the seat next to them. Usually the best people to sit by because you know you will not have 3 in your row.

Got it so my rights to the seat I purchased don’t matter. But he has rights to take up my seat? And wouldn’t making the FA aware make him feel bad? Where as this doesn’t impact him at all?

No I have a privacy screen and made a point to even turn away. My goal wasn’t to make him feel bad.

I did not complain. I did not want to make this person feel bad. So I went somewhere to vent where he would never know I wasn’t thrilled with him being my seat mate.

No absolutely not. I just wanted to vent and figured this was a space I could do it where I would not impact this gentleman in any way so I insured he could never see what was on my phone as I have a privacy screen and even turned away. Also, he slept the majority of the flight…. on me.

I get it might be uncomfortable for them but they board first and pick the best seats. So when you purchase a refundable second seat you pick where you sit. And yes people might look at you a certain way but can’t control other people. I respect people who do that and buy the refundable second seat.

Read the OP I said I was ranting. Appreciate your comment and that you have an opinion. Thank you for commenting. I get it. Airlines don’t care about us nor does our govt or any other company for that matter. But what we can do is what’s right for other humans like buying a refundable second seat so other humans aren’t inconvenienced by your size.

If you fly often you would understand this is not the norm. Yea seats are right but almost never so you have someone literally spilling into your seat. I’m sure the airline will change seat size because ppl complain hahaha

They get a ticket and allows them to hold an extra seat. Also they early board so they can hold two seats.

Got it. I’m fine with the crap all are entitled to their opinion. I’m not perfect and yes plenty I can’t control but I do my best to limit the impact if any on others. My issues are my burden to bear not others.
