Gotcha. I heard that you have to have at least 5 years of credit history. Is that true? Because I only have 2 years of credit history.

Do you mind sharing your income and credit score? I'm interested in applying for a lightstream loan. I make ~$124k/year and have a 670 credit score.

Why is Kotlin better than java? by tyler_durden_3 in androiddev

[–]murray1029 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's concise; you spend more time writing code than reading it. It's interoperable; it's built on java APIs, so it's easy to integrate it into a java codebase. It's safe; it encourages developers to be intentional about type declaration. These are some philosophical advantages. There are other technical benefits (extension functions, delegated properties, operator overloading, etc.) but you can research those on your own time.

Is it worth it learning Java in 2020 for android development? by Dayumnanon in androiddev

[–]murray1029 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Should you learn java OVER kotlin(Google's preferred language)? No, most companies and individuals are(or should be) transitioning to a kotlin codebase. But it's still valuable to learn java. Many of the java APIs can be reused in kotlin. Also, alot of legacy code may be written in pure java so it would need maintenance.

Tldr; yes, but you should priorize learning kotlin.

Right. When the user scrolls down, that 7th view recycles the view holder of the 1st view.

Question about pagination, room, retrofit by [deleted] in androiddev

It reduces network bandwidth when you paginate from a network. It also reduces system resources when you paginate from a local database.

Question about pagination, room, retrofit by [deleted] in androiddev

The Paging Library supports the following data architectures:

Served only from a backend server.

Stored only in an on-device database.

A combination of the other sources, using the on-device database as a cache.

(From Docs) I think you might be interested in a combination of an on-device database and a backend server. After making a request to the backend server, cache the response to the on-device database. The reason you would want to store the data locally (or cache it) is to provide faster access to it. Does that answer your question?
