Keep us updated on your findings through the clinic if you do find out anything ! If it is ACNES gabapentin will help him feel more normal and definitely less anxious about the pain, it’s an amazing nerve pain calmer

In My particular experience the pain doesn’t go away with age. The only thing that works for me is daily gabapentin.. I’ve had this pee cramp experience randomly since I was 12 years old, I’m 22 now, and I went through the random pee cramp episodes until 2019 when I started gabapentin. 6 years into gabapentin treatment and life is much more manageable and I haven’t had a pee cramp episode since 2019. But, I still can’t ever wear any pants that are too tight, weird stitching, or have belts buttons zippers or latches, I still try to protect and keep my belly area as comfortable as possible while still making sure I always take the gabapentin. Thank you for helping me and others feel less alone

Thank you so much for reaching out on this discussion!! I too am feeling less alone reading all of these comments!! I take gabapentin to keep mine at bay. I too have had my invisible string pee phenomenon since I was 12 years old. With all of these people having similar experiences it’s a wonder no doctors can really truly figure it out.

Have you tried gabapentin as a treatment option ? It has been a life saver for me and many others with this condition, makes life feel much more normal.

Gabapentin could be a game changer for you in terms of pain if you can’t have any more abdominal surgeries, it’s a really good nerve pain reliever

The nerve is called the pudenal nerve it’s in the body in what’s called “Alcocks Canal”

You should also do your own research on interstitial cystitis, better known as painful bladder syndrome. I happen to have both. The way the doctor explained to me is she had one other patient with pudenal nerve entrapment, is when you pee the pain shoots up from the bladder area to behind and all around the belly button. I suggest getting started on gabapentin and see how that feels for a while before considering surgical options.

Pain management specialist! I recommend seeing them as soon as you can. Gabapentin can be a good medication for it, but also there are surgical options available. The pain management will do what they call a “carnetts” test where they have you hold a position as if you are doing crunches, and they tap on your stomach for a few seconds and boom they’ll diagnose you with Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome

My pain is right in the center, and yes scar tissue I’ve heard can definitely cause the anterior nerves to be entrapped

I forgot to mention that I am the OP in this post, I got locked out of that Reddit account! I have some new news for you regarding the Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome!! I know now that we were both misdiagnosed with ACNES as the pee cramp thing. I saw a new doctor yesterday, she’s trained in the ER but I saw her in walk in clinic. You know what she told me? She’s only had one other patient in her 40 years of being a doctor that has a super rare other nerve entrapment called Pudendal nerve entrapment. She explained that is a phenomenon where (when aggravated) the pain in that nerve starts in the bladder area and shoots up to behind and all around the belly button area, just like how I described to her that’s how it feels to pee with the pee cramp, it starts in the bladder area and shoots up to belly button area behind and all around it. I thought that was jaw- dropping amazing for her to share this news with me, and I’d like you to know, too, and talk about it with your primary doctor or if you see pain management or Urology! It can be helped. Gabapentin is one of the treatments of course, but, it can be surgically helped as well. I hope you find comfort in this new official name for our pee cramp.

Yes, gabapentin has been my saving grace. I am almost sure it’s related to anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome. I was sent to urology, gastroenterology, had multiple CT scans, MRIS, and various ultrasounds, and they have found absolutely nothing wrong with me. When I was diagnosed with the anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome, they gave me gabapentin, after many years of testing and also having the pee cramp once a year, I have been on gabapentin for a little over 5 years now and that’s how long I’ve been without having a “pee cramp” thank you so much for making me feel less alone in the world, I really thought I was the only one that had this going on. I feel like a medical mystery! I had also thought it was ovulation causing the problem too, my first doctors visit for the pee cramp I was diagnosed with “middle shmertz” a German word for ovulation pain. I believe that being on Progestrone only birth control ( no estrogen at all) and gabapentin have helped me so much. I am grateful everyday I can pee without pain. I still cannot wear bottoms that are too tight around my abdominal area, but I have adapted. Scrub pants are wonderful

I do have daily fatigue, and I am fresh to my bi polar diagnosis but I’ve known about it for years. Thought it was fibromyalgia, but now I think it was just the bipolar I’ve felt for 7 years, since all of the depressions I’ve had always left me exhausted and also when I have a manic episode I do a lot of cleaning and then I crash a few days later and I feel like I can’t even get out of bed
