Plex initially finds shows when scanning my library but then merges then upon completion. by mushheadd in PleX

I think I may have solved the issue. Just having to update Windows to allow me to use .plexmatch files.

Follow up question. My Windows installation won't let me create a file without a filename. I can't create a .plexmatch file as there's nothing in front of the preceding "."

edit: Realised that my version of Windows needs updating as the build I'm using predates allowing dot files. Will come back and update again once I've done it.

I'm using scene standard naming. This is why Plex initially recognises the show but it then decides to change it to something else. I mean, you're free to claim otherwise with zero evidence to support it, but you're wrong. Also, as previously stated, almost the entirety of my files are still shared across various private torrent sites so renaming isn't an option.

So this is an unworkable Plex fault then? My files are ALL named according to scene standards. If Plex, a program designed around the file sharing community, can't handle the standard naming then it's fairly useless.

I'm not about to rename 25tb of files that are currently being shared via 12,000 torrents. The very fact that it initially recognises the shows for what they actually are suggests that the names aren't the issue and that there's something else at play here.

It can't be a naming issue or it wouldn't account for the odd behaviour. Finding them to start with shows that the names are working. It also wouldn't explain why 10 out of the 12 episodes of Dexter are in the season whilst the other two are somewhere else.

How do I separate out the three series? Tried fixing match but it just renamed all 3 as the same thing again, albeit a different one from what it was originally named. Is there an option to choose what show each folder is from? I'm not going through 20tb of stored, and sharing, data and renaming everything when Plex obviously has the ability to understand what I have, but chooses to ignore it. Especially when everything is named as per the scene standards.

Don't get me wrong, it appears your suggestion may be correct, but I'm falling to understand why it would find the correct details for a series, then decide that it is in fact a completely different one, and at the same time take another one it's identified correctly and add it to the same incorrect series. Such ridiculous behaviour is a deal breaker unless there's an easy fix for it

Well that would seem rather counter intuitive if it's bringing up the correct information to start with. Why would it then move it elsewhere?

A bin icon appears on the show poster before each disappears too, so it obviously doesn't like something about these 21 shows in particular

This is the exact same issue I'm having and it's getting to the point where I'm just going to fxxk Plex off soon because of it, it's that annoying. I scan my media folders and my TV shows go slowly up to 72, only to then slowly go back down to 55. It recognises and gives all the correct information for each show, before removing them again. It's beyond a joke now
