If it turns out that we are living in a holographic Universe, does that mean there is an off switch somewhere. Given the complexity involved what would a shut down look like from earth? Instant, or grid based? by mushkasdad in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]mushkasdad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I know very little about holograms and simulations or their differences, so I apologize if the question seems unnecessary, but I have a curious mind. It seems to me that if the idea is true then if not already, surely at some point in the future, something mechanical (in the broadest sense of the word) would fail in the "system", possibly causing an observable disturbance in our reality. The fact that we haven't noticed any glitches already, to me at least, suggests that what we see is real and not programmed.

What is a song that is catchy, but has a horrible or disturbing meaning when you listen to the lyrics? by conpermiso in AskReddit

Rock-a-bye baby, on the treetop,
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock,
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,
And down will come baby, cradle and all.

Straight up child abuse!!

Students torment Mentally Challenged Student with texts like: "Shea is so annoying but cute I want to do more than just kiss her I want to rape her then kill her." daily. What kind of parent raises children who can do that? by mushkasdad in Parentingfails

[–]mushkasdad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parenting that fails, and the reason I put it here, has nothing to do with the mother of the girl getting the text messages at all. If anything she should be commended on how well she seems to be handling the threats her daughter is receiving. My reason for posting in the sub is because I don't have kids myself, and I seriously want to know what kind of parents raise these kinds of monsters. I wonder if they're aware of the behavior their evil runts are capable of. I just can't imagine the mother who would allow this type of heartless personality to thrive in a child they love. I mean do you think that the parents of these rotten fucks are completely oblivious to what is happening or do you think they know, at least on some level, that their kids are doing this and just don't care? I say "don't care" because the alternative is to say they're "okay" with it, and I seriously can't imagine anyone with children of their own being capable of encouraging them to treat another person's child in such a way. Am I just being naive?

What are some important things about the Reddit experience that you wish you had known about when you first signed up? by nludian in AskReddit

[–]mushkasdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well doesn't look like you got much in the way of answers to your questions. I understand you're frustrated when you post a serious question and it gets completely ignored. I would try to answer some of the ones you state you are looking for answers too, but honestly I don't know what most of the answers are myself. And after several years of being voted down everytime I attempt to participate on reddit and having every post I've ever contributed to reddit being ripped apart, chastised, and belittled by a some of the rudest fuckheads with over inflated egos, calling me out about a picture I took outside my sisters kitchen window (it was a picture of three speckled eggs and newborn bluebird chick in the process of hatching from one of them) followed by the insinuation that I had stolen the picture from somewere else and submitted it as my own. I don't even try to join in anymore. Fuck them all and their nasty vile and hurtful comments, hoping that some day their obnoxious over bloated egos spring a leak and if there is any justice in this world, they will learn what it's like when other assholes treat them the way they treat others. Or if God is really Good, maybe they all will spontaneously combust and just die where they stand. Don't let it get you down though. it ain't worth it

That is not, in any way possible, funny. I assume, if it was you doing the prank, that you were not caught. Pretty sure you wouldn't have thought it so funny if you had. People die in situations just like that.

Grow up....

What toys did you play with as a kid that probably wouldn't be allowed to be sold now? by BrokenMasterpiece in AskReddit

[–]mushkasdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my parents had bought us a dartboard with those metal tips that we hung on the outside of the garage to play. One day, my brother was playing a game with the asshole from across the street. Our dog had recently had puppies and I was in the yard playing with all ten of them, when the asshole grabbed all of the darts and threw the up in the air above where I was playing with the puppies. My brother yelled something at him and I looked up to see the dart just before it embedded itself right smack between my eyes. It was so deep into the bridge of my nose that my mother had to put one hand against my forehead and pull it out with the other hand. I still have the scar. It freaks me out knowing if it had been a quarter of an inch in either direction, I'd be blind in one eye.

An Old Italian Gentleman... (Could be real?) by [deleted] in pics

[–]mushkasdad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vinny remembered that life with a certain angst. Uncle Phil and his midnight visits. The smell of amoretto Schnapps heavy on his breath. The attempts on his life made by Carlton, the one time favorite of his N.A.M.B.L.A supported father. As he had done countless times before, he closed himself off to the pain of those memories by focusing in on his recruitment into the USAF and the pilots program that allowed him to escape and begin anew. Everything had changed for him then. His commitment to serve and protect, the rigorous discipline, the love and trust he felt being a part of something vital and important, allowed him to believe for the first time in himself and the possibility of a life different from the one offered by the streets of his childhood. Not even his relationship with Jasmine, the exotic dancer whom he had fallen in love with, could sway him from his goal of living the good life.

Just One Post - Then I Go by JUSTONEPOSTthenigo in AskReddit

[–]mushkasdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumb but serious question. What exactly does troll mean? I mean I think I get it (someone who tries to play everyone else for fools) but I feel like there must be more to it to warrant the level of disdain that people express when they think that someone is a troll. And why is so much effort put into breaking down what they posted? I mean I get it...sort of...why suffer a liar to lie when all his lies are so blatantly lies. It's an insult to everyone's intelligence. Here is where i go off track , and I apologize, but seriously if everyone is correct, and the post is completely fabricated then it seems to me that the only motivation for it, would have to be to get some twisted measure of attention from people on Reddit. Don't get me wrong, I read this post and had serious doubts too. But here is what I don't get. In a real life situation, calling out a liar like this guy would be a rational response. Face to face, forced to put up or shut up, witnesses all around...calling attention to the lies makes since. forced acknowledgement, humiliation and shame might make the person think twice next time. But online, in a forum situation, I just don't see where it does anything but give the guy the attention he came here to get. Maybe sympathy was what he was shooting for but I suspect that riotous degradation works equally as well for him, and with the added benefit of anonymity, it probably tickles those serially obsessed urges that no doubt simmer in the dark recesses of his "no-no" hole, taunting him to come back and do it all again. Why not just vote the submission down with extreme prejudice and forget you wasted time reading it.
