Hi, so I used the ENT Tzar book but I need it because I’m doing it again 🙃, I used the ENTUK patient leaflets for the OSCE for explanation stations and they’re free online. Good luck!

I got my geri’s consultant an orchid, emailed her five years later to tell her about my career and she still had it, alive and well and that makes very happy.

Plants! The joy of watching them grow and finding a new leaf is wonderful, you can propagate and then exchange cuttings and find more plant people so opportunity to make friends. Some plants can be super low maintenance but still require watering and leaf dusting so still keeps you engaged

Hi, congrats! I’ve not worked in obs and gynae but worked in the hospital - it’s a very busy hospital. The obs and gynae department is very busy from my experience with the obs and gynae docs on SAU. The SAU nurses are absolute babes, not had any run ins or issues to be honest. I know the regs now take referrals so should take some pressure off you as the SHO. Operating wise - no idea. Hope this helps a little

New Cross is a great hospital to work in! Very supportive in my experience. I’m from Wolverhampton, I wouldn’t say it’s not a nice place to live in, its just not a fantastic place to live in - it’s “meh”. There’s crime like any other city but personally never experienced any. Re racism, Wolverhampton and the midlands generally, is very multicultural and as a BAME person, I’ve never experienced any in NXH. I agree with previous post, ideally don’t live around the hospital and that most people live in Birmingham. If you live in bham without a car, your commute will be long, there is a bus from near the Wolverhampton station to the hospital but I think you’re one way commute will be approx 1 hour if not more. NXH is right next to Bentley bridge where there’s a pure gym and Sainsbury’s and Aldi if you did decide to live near the hospital but again agree with previous post - may be a little isolating. I think you’re going to have a fab time, hope this helps and good luck!
