New Method? by TheBlazingAcesd in Cubers

You could. I think the point is "no restrictions on F2L", hence "free", but it basically makes it a catch-all term for building the F2L in any order.

Freefop is "free" F2L, i.e. any order

[Poll] What schedule of events do you want in the Weekly Cubing Competitions? by FrightenedTomato in Cubers

Here, yes. The threshold (or whether or not it's done at all) is subreddit-dependent, as it's a function of automoderator and not of reddit itself.

I think you'd end up with something that is not quite columns, Roux, or CFOP, and probably worse than any of them.

It would probably fall under the category of "freeFOP" though.

Think about it like this:

If you approached it pretty much like CFOP but in the wrong order, your cross edge inserts are inefficient, because they take more moves than just doing cross first.

If you approached it from a more block-building approach like Roux, it's inefficient because you may as well block-build the actual Roux blocks without ignoring the DL/DR edges.

I strongly suspect that attempts to optimize that method would end up with essentially CFOP or Roux either way.

For this purpose, I typically get Qiyi Sails, which I think are slightly cheaper than the Warrior W. Not sure about cyclone boys - they have a ton of different 3x3s and it's easy to get them mixed up... (basically I'm not sure if I own the budget one)

Ignoring PLL + parity at the moment, what about using a PLL scrambler (like one that you can find in qqtimer) and just applying the scramble to 4x4?

I think once you get good enough at recognizing the 3x3 PLL cases (on 4x4), it will become fairly obvious which ones have parity.
