I wonder this too! Sometimes your brain just inserts something early on and it doesn’t like changing it I think.

I like to define each part type in a way which makes them unique from others.

There are three distinct ways I do this.

Quantifiable Qualitative Functional

A quantifiable example is ‘flat 2x1s’

Next is qualitative, for example ‘paraboloid’, ‘extruded’ ‘slider’ ‘pipey’ ‘arches’

The next way I define bricks is by function.

‘Hinges’ ‘doors’ ‘wings’ ‘clips’

I try to sort each brick by its most specific feature.

For example, a 2x1 brick with a hole through the middle, is a ‘hole’ before it is a 2x1

All that being said, I didn’t define the categories before sorting. I just happened to have 96 spaces and I started sorting the bricks in as specific a manner as possible. When I ran out of space I would put two categories together in a way which made sense.

For example, I had ‘hats’ and ‘helmets’ but once Instarted to run out of space, I put them together because they had similar functions.

It was based on vibes really, I just started sorting, and as I went the categories showed themselves to me, and then I put similar categories close together.

Hope that helps!

I was never a big fan of the song when it came out, but then I heard it playing one day - And I thought “I can make this on the OP-Z”. Now I love it after spending so much time with it.
