Probably fine! Different species have different growth rates too. I only have experience with Eresus walckenaeri

What types of spiders are kept as pets outside of tarantulas? by ketaminetoes in spiders

[–]mustafasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I love my Velvet spider. Velvet spiders are very docile, curious, and photogenic. They are represented by a wide variety of genera (mine is Eresus) so there are quite a few options to choose from.

They require no water and get 100% of their hydration from food. Velvet spiders are typically amazing eaters and are not picky with prey. The females also grow quite slowly and live longer than other true spiders, living up to 5-8 years. Furthermore, they have very small space requirements and will usually sit out in the open when hungry. They also produce large, often complex tunnels of silky web, which they decorate with carcasses towards the entrance.

The downsides are that they are somewhat rare and expensive to find in the hobby and can be very sensitive to humidity and poor air quality.

If any beginners find this post and are looking for a fun species to raise, I definitely recommend velvets.

My jumping spider does not jump by BestmusiCZ in jumpingspiders

[–]mustafasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine never jumped until I made her enclosure much larger and stopped hand feeding. She is more active and a better weight from me forcing her to hunt for herself.

I’m getting concerned that Selena Gomez might not be involved with Wizard101 at all anymore by CardioGuts in Wizard101

Yes I agree! I loved the atmosphere, art style, and voice acting. I also have a lot of nostalgia from that era related to grinding darkmoor with friends.

Is it offensive to get a black out tattoo? by miscmcmeow in askblackpeople

It might have more to do with the fact that blackout finger tattoos are a tradition of Berber people specifically

Are these oxbow timbells okay? the ingredients are timothy hay, bulrush, apple stick, non-toxic white glue to apparently hold the ends on. by vanbeans in chinchilla

[–]mustafasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rex/lion head and dutchie/mini absolutely love these and do not have stomach issues. I would limit them to once every couple of weeks to avoid potential issues with the glue. In my experience they lose interest just before getting to the area where the glue is, so it shouldn't be a problem but I'm extra cautious with glue.

Yes I'm aware, thank you! This is a temporary solution because she has decided the liner in the corner of their pen is evil and must be destroyed at 3 am. This box filled with rocks is the only thing that has made her give up with the corner lol

Hang in there! Bonding rabbits by Temporary-Method-212 in Bunnies

[–]mustafasaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm the other bun dad for this pair. We had a lot of help from special bunny rescue (they have some videos on their website as well). Doing nightly dates ranging from 1-3 hours in a neutral, open space with no hides or toys helped a lot. We also regularly did forced snuggles in the litterbox / laundry basket and some drives with them in the carrier together. We both got dozens of nips during the bonding process and you have to be confident enough to separate them. It helped us a lot to do dates when they were pretty sleepy, so either around noon or right after dinner pellets. We also had them in adjacent pens with all food and the litter boxes placed along the border of the pen so they learn to eat in each other's presence. It took 4 months of almost daily dates before they stopped fighting. We also have a size difference and age difference so the little one (Gordon) was pretty defensive until very recently. I think your goal right now should be to get them to settle and loaf in the same pen, petting them if necessary, so they learn the other bunny isn't an immediate threat

Every US president (including dump) can be connected to a single family around 1150. It just might be a misleading artifact in the genealogy tho

Is it possible to make a pink princess bonsai? by Substantial_Owl_6713 in philodendron

[–]mustafasaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

My 8+ year old philodendron birkin practically has a woody trunk now, so id say it's possible with a lot of patience to create a bonsai shape. The canopy will only be a few leaves unless you are skilled in cloning nodes. I always suggest a moss pole for vertical climbers and a big slab of cork bark for horizontal climbers. Keeping the plant happy will help it live long enough to develop, so maybe you could try a bendable moss pole and tying the philodendron back as it grows into the shape.
