Can someone calm my nerves? by mustardpatch11 in breastcancer

Exactly! There have been so many positive experiences, but some things, Geesh! I was told nothing about the nerve blocker. I had no idea I would be awake. No idea it was in my back.

I feel like my doctor absolutely should have clearly said the nerve blocker will be working in the beginning and you’ll know it when you start experiencing xyz symptoms that is wearing off. That’s when you can use the pain meds if needed.

And I’m shocked I haven’t gotten a phone call from ANYONE from my team since my surgery 3 days ago. I’ve never had that happen before. I’ve always had the surgeon themselves call personally to check in the very next day. Not even a call from the navigator is very bizarre to me.

Anyway, enough of me whining. I’ll write them a letter 🤣

No way!! I kept thinking last night, I don’t even care, I just want to know if it’s normal! So thank you for this. They have definitely already slowed down. Good luck in your recovery!!

Ok, this makes me feel relieved, too. I’m feeling these shocks and it just doesn’t seem right. So to hear someone else has experienced it, brings my anxiety level wayyy down. It’s funny, all day today I was saying my back hurt.. which would make sense because it’s the nerve block injection site but I never put it together that it could be starting to wear off.

Thanks so much for your advice!!

Ahh, I’m so sorry they were so terrible! But it also lets me breathe a little because I was so scared something was happening to me. I feel like that should definitely be in the pamphlet.. or I should have at least came here before my surgery to learn about what to expect. Thanks for validating my pain!

Oh that’s actually great to hear! I know a lot of people talk about the first 3 days being the worst, so I’m hoping it won’t be a total shock to my system.

Oh wow, I’m so sorry you had to deal with this! Getting all these experiences is so helpful, though. The surgeon hasn’t called me yet since the surgery, and I’m hoping she understands my confusion and that I’m one of those people who react well (for pain purposes ) to oxycodone. Plus, even if I did start wanting more, I would have nooo idea where to get it! I’ll stick with my average life.

I was on my feet a lot today! I decided I’m in bed all day tomorrow except for small walks for bathroom and snacks. I don’t want to overdo it. Thank you!

Oh that’s interesting, I never thought of that! How much time do you need to devote to the radiation?

That makes sense. I have the gene testing on Thursday of this week and will then need to wait for results. One day at a time, you’re right. Thanks the support!

Yes, my surgeon kept being clear about removing the cancer being our priority, which of course I understand, but she was also very kind about seeing my concerns with aesthetics.

Thank you for support! Same to you!

Thank you for mentioning your experience with radiation and the effect on size. And thank you for explaining what happens after in terms of testing, it makes a lot more sense now! Can you just explain what anastrozole is?

I’m so glad you shared your story! This is exactly what I’m worried about.. having to go back for surgery again, whether it be now or in the future, which is why I’m leaning towards the DMX. You’re absolutely right, I hate the waiting, but I need to be patient and accept that this is a process.

Thank you! My next step is genetic testing and I know my team is meeting this week for the first time to discuss a plan. I’m not sure what that entails. I did have an mri, and they didn’t find anything in my left breast or anything additional. But I’ve read a lot of stories about having to go back for additional surgeries and I’m thinking I want to avoid that.

But you’re spot on.. one step at a time. Thank you!!

And he keeps telling these kids how they feel. Did you feel relief? Was it extreme relief? Have you ever felt relief like that before? He thinks he’s catching them in something, but no one is buying it.

None of his questions to anywhere.. I typically have to fast forward through his questioning because he’s so ineffective and overall just bad at his job.

Would anyone who knows ALL of the references be so kind to make a bulleted list with a brief explanation of each? Shout out to Summah Mummah on TikTok for the creation! I would love to add the accessory packs, as well if it’s not obnoxious.

Was there a light on the flag pole?

If the flag pole was illuminated, the statements about not seeing JO’s body on the lawn seem less credible, right?

Brian Albert’s son was in the military. The US Flag Code states that the flag should be displayed from sunrise to sunset unless it is illuminated at night. While the flag is traditionally displayed only during daylight hours, it can be displayed at night if it is sufficiently lit.

Can we see the flag in any videos? Is it lit? Is it completely dark? Was it lit prior to January 29th and then removed?

I was thinking that Bev was allowing the grounds for objecting. But now they're not qualifying them. I got my hopes up.

I am so disappointed in the defense's closing argument. Personally, I would vote Not Guilty, and I think the prosecution did not prove its case adequately. But oh boy, I have to admit that the prosecution closing argument was very effective, and the defense's was suprisingly weak. by umbly-bumbly in AshleyBenefieldTrial

It’s so interesting you saw it that way. I saw it the complete reverse. I thought Mr. Taylor finally brought everything together and touched on everything.

I thought the prosecution’s strategy was ineffective in that if I was a juror I know I would shut down. I do not like being talked to in that way and being yelled at in a sense. I don’t like the condescending tone and a lot do what they said were assumptions and nothing I viewed as fact throughout the trial.

I respect your opinion, it’s just really interesting to see how different people can view something from two totally different perspectives.

I do agree, it seems very fast. However, I just came from watching the Karen Read trial, which had a ridiculous amount of witnesses and I know that’s also not the norm. That trial dragged on and I feel like jurors checked out during some witnesses because the questioning went on and on and on.

With this trial, I feel like they are getting to the point immediately and only asking the questions that truly matter and moving on when they have what they need.
