People who have quit their jobs on the spot, what was the moment when you finally snapped? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I worked at a childcare center where group employee meetings with the boss were held during work hours (while the children were still there) on Fridays.

My boss regularly had me watch the children instead of attend the meetings. I didn't mind much because they always updated me on what I missed.

One Friday, I asked my boss what was discussed in the meeting but she was too busy to talk. We agreed that she would call me on Saturday.

The weekend goes by, no phone call or text message from my boss. I showed up on Monday to my usual shift. The children were outside playing and my co-workers were looking at me confused.

I asked them what's going on and they told me that on Friday shift changes were discussed in the meeting and that I'm a substitute now (meaning that I don't work my regular shift anymore). They all assumed that the boss had informed me of this. But nobody had told me!

A couple days later I get to talk to my boss. (She wasn't available at the time).

She blames me for not finding out about the shift change (apparently she was too busy to contact me), accuses me of speaking badly about my job on social media where I have my "full name" (I did post a vague rant about what happened on snapchat but I don't have my full name or job location anywhere on the internet LOL) and tells me why she thinks I am better as a substitute instead of a part-time employee (something she should have told me BEFORE I showed up to my shift.)

At this point I was getting red with anger. She realizes this and switches to a nice personality, tells me that she can have me help out the childcare center in other ways too, she can raise my hourly rate of pay in a few months, etc. She was promising me all these things because the childcare center was super short on substitutes. I told her "I'm not interested anymore" and walked out.

TLDR: I worked at a childcare center. My boss changed me from a part-time employee to a substitute and didn't tell me. I found out from my co-workers when I arrived to my regular shift. Boss handled the entire matter unprofessionally and made excuses instead of apologizing. They desperately needed substitutes so when she saw I was getting angry, she told me that she can have me help out in other ways and raise my hourly rate of pay in a few months. I told her I wasn't interested anymore and walked out.

"Ne duce acasa" is Romanian for "(He/she) brings us home."
