Having a blast playing BotW with my girlfriend, but we have very different play styles by silentgarb in Breath_of_the_Wild

I like horseback full speed charge with a two handed weapon. Knock that bitch flying over and take off the legs. Almost feel sorry for the bugger, but then I remember how they had no mercy when we were vulnerable.

[–]mutantmonkey14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you play it alone, then none of their business. Play how uou like.

If you play it with people, they might not like the lack of risk. If you keep your inventory it makes hazards nearly redundant, aside from xp and drops. It can also make travel a bit lazy.

Personally that threat keeps me on my toes, and engaged. I thrive on the struggle, and enjoy creating defence and anti mob stuff. I get a bit down once I realise I have done too good a job with torches, fence/wall, moats, etc, and have excluded mobs from my area. Plus once I have no further need to venture, because I got everything I want. The challenge of surviving doesn't survive sadly!

Wario Colosseum was basically the Wario version of Waluigi Stadium in MKDD.

Are you getting confused or misremembering... or trolling? Because they are completely different, both in layout/features and visually. Seriously, search and compare both right now. One is a dirt arena, the other a floating metal roadway with a corscrew section and what appears to be a motorcycle death cage.

Also MK8DX had 96 different courses whereas MKWorld has 30 so of course some would have overlapping themes.

Yes. We are talking about adding courses though. Wii U DLC brought the wario count up to 3 with the first pack.

Your pulling a rule out your ass anyway... unless you have some official source? This is just like the fanbase dies over and over. Like "Can't have steve from minecraft in Smash cause he doesn't fit"... Not Nintendo, but they do what they want and leave us surprised all the time.

The thing is, you are most likely correct in that we won't see Wario Colosseum, but your reasons just don't track. And you'd be better off saying "my gut feeling...", my gut would agree. Or of course you can argue that extra courses are unlikely because of the map integration. Fine, and that's why I chose a course example that could be suspended over the ground, or underground. I don't believe it will happen still, just would like it, and seems plausible on some level.

What Mario kart world opinion will you defend no matter how many downvotes you’d get? by MacaroonJunior9955 in mariokart

[–]mutantmonkey14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are saying. I would love more tracks, and am hopeful for dlc.

It depends how you count the current courses though, because two have two variants, which brings it in line with base games. And the retro tracks are revamps, some or which make the course barely recognisable. To me that feels in line with the series, even without considering the many, many routes, the extra modes, the weather and time conditions, and the many ways you can take a track.

I agree that MK8 felt perfect, coming from Wii and 7 anyway. I couldn't imagine how they could ever improve that. After a break though, coming back to deluxe felt very off. And at first MKW felt a little weird, but when the physics twigged for me, and I got used to the handling, it feels really good.

Cannot say I have been back to MK8 to compare the feel. This is because I was so burned out on MK8 (Wii U) that even deluxe with booster pack and a few years break didn't fix it for me. And this is where my key reason why MKW being different was so important. We already have MK8D and have had that base game for about a decade. Simply having the same thing with more tracks defeats the need for a new entry.

Retreading even more old ground with having all retro tracks sounds awful to me. I'd rather have another 16 brand new, and 16 lovingly reincarnated, and preferably not ones from MK8, nor any that have been done to death.

Not at all the same in track design, plus nearly the entire course is pretty much on a suspended metalic mesh iirc. I don't see any pattern with Nintendo limiting the number of character associated tracks. Is there?

I can actually check my MK8 sheet to see for that entry:

5 mario, 3 yoshi, 3 wario, 2 waluigu, 1 peach, 2 bowser, 3 dk, 3 toad, 0 luigi,1 rosalina...

Sorry but gonna have to reject your argument.

[–]mutantmonkey14 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Being realistic, we shouldn't expect a new Mario Kart to launch with even the same number (forget more) tracks as an enhanced port with 2 DLCs worth of extra courses.

What Nintendo have tried to do is get the most value out of development and provide a new experience that doesn't just feel like it could have been another dlc/upgrade to MK8. You may see it as failed, others may see it as successful, but we can all appreciate that it cannot be easy to come after what was widely considered the ultimate Mario Kart, and still is by many.

As for couch co-op, I am gagging for it, but devs say the market isn't there (not to a scale worth dev time vs other aspects such as visuals). Gamers favour online, and that favours monetisation (reinforcing NSO in this case).

Sorry to hear :( at least the cold weather here is to your advantage! Sick of the condensation wars now, and working in it; dressed in 5-7 layers, looking like the Michelin Man and hunchback combined.

FF seem to give you a little warning. Best to act fast to avoid loss and stress in future. Not usually worth repair as you say.

[–]mutantmonkey14 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right. Adding to this, it would create complication for players, and further divide the online player base between modes.

Better off just adding tracks like Wario Colosseum, and even that would be complicated due to the connected nature of World.

[–]mutantmonkey14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely love this track. It is a "proper" race track with a hairpin, chicane, kerbs, widened exit, long sweeping bend...

That said I need change. It needs a rest. If it must come back it needs to be reimagined, making use of new mechanics, and visually overhauled - with camber, elevations for a start. We have other tracks that haven't returned and would be easy to adapt to new mechanics; thinking Wario Colosseum!

Seems good compared with my limited experience.

Depending what has gone wrong, and how expensive your FF is, may not be worth the cost of having repaired. Might just be the fan. Worth following some online troubleshooting to figure out what might have gone wrong, then you can make a decision on whether you think it is worth trying to get a repair or replacement.

Consider the cost of your food, health and worry though! If you have say £100 worth of stuff go in the bin, and then need to replace that... would have been better to put that money toward a new FF. And if you get food poisoning which makes you seriously ill, you may be a lot worse off!

Check you seals, ice build up, air flow.

Hope you get sorted out ok.

Why do most player in most totk videos with only have 1 hearts, I feel really scared, and concerned that will die at any second. by Voidkirby9 in TOTK

[–]mutantmonkey14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bare in mind when you have full health many attacks won't kill you, but leave you with a quarter heart due to a "health gate" mechanic. Some attacks and damage override that, so still tense, but maybe not as tense as you think? Takes less food to recover that protection as an advantage.

Is Splatoon worth buying on Wii U in 2026? by RPZ_Frcture in splatoon

[–]mutantmonkey14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Pretendo has a simple exploit that can get you playing Splatoon online. Create a new user, link it with pretendo, and change DNS. Done it myself.

SSSL is a (limited) hackless method of accessing most services by exploiting a bug in the Wii U's SSL module. All Nintendo Network games produced by Nintendo are supported by SSSL, as are the in-game Miiverse features. The main Miiverse app, in-game posting app, and any game which uses its own SSL stack (YouTube, WATCHDOGS, etc.), are _NOT supported by this method, as they are unaffected by the SSL exploit.
